Not confident - I see them beating us fairly comfortable by a couple of goals, I'm afraid. Marti had two weeks during the international break and talked a great game as usual, then we got the dross of the bizarre draw at Sheff Wednesday. They're unbeaten all season, second top div goalscorers, and our record agains them on their own patch is hardly stellar. However, it's footie, and stranger Rangers things have happened, so hopefully my prognostications are sub-Nostradamusian. |

'Dark arts', my arse! What's remotely 'artistic' about it? If the ref adds on the correct amount of time, 'running the clock down' is a meaningless term, although of course the play is 'broken up' regardless. It's just more contempt for the paying fans, of course, as well as the game itself. A lot of modern football is about not playing football as much as playing it, and it's definitely getting a lot worse. It started, I'm sorry to say, or was at least significantly accelerated by, the arrival of foreign players. Has a player ever been booked in the PL for simulating injury, I wonder? I suppose if they were, a lot of games would finish as six-a-sides. If refs just applied the rules and got (actually or unactually) injured players off the pitch without delay and issued cards for obvious simulation, perhaps some of this offensive bullsh*t would be flushed out. Obviously, the football authorities don't care to. [Post edited 26 Sep 22:41]

The trouble is 'the government, the monarchy, the police' are actually or probably implicated in much of the filth of 'normal' life in this country. (We think we have transparency issues with Nourry, but he has nothing on Prince Andrew, for instance.) |

As Jordan Peterson makes clear, the main problem with humanity, ever since the Garden of Eden, is human corruption, and, as Jung reminds us, the larger the group/organisation, the longer the shadow it tends to cast. Think Hillsborough/South Yorkshire Police, Rotherham and the Jay Report, Savile, the Post Office, and now this. (Which is part of the reason I am, and will always be, philosophically an anarchist, and certainly an anti-statist. I do, however, follow, this football club/tribe for my sins, and am well aware of my contradictions, before anyone points them out. These days, I call it 'giving the devil his due'.) It would be remarkable if the sexual criminality of Al Fayed (and his paid protectors) did not extend to his stewardship of Fulham, and one wonders if any, and how many, women will eventually come out of the Craven Cottage woodwork after the horse has bolted. (As the CPS was handed two folders filled with complainants at Harrods and failed to act, it should also be investigating itself, though if it does I'm sure, as with the Met, it will give itself a clean bill of health.) What a sick joke UK 'society' is these days, and thank Mercury it at least has a media that can scrape some of this stuff up off these sociopaths' slimy/dead skins, however evilly obstructed their victims are! Unquestionably, the club will be updating us on that imminently. That said, it's only a small matter of our star player (allegedly) lobbing a rock at someone's head, so nothing that we fans would be too interested in. Wonder if there'll be a question about it at the FF. I'm sure Nourry's PA will gladly waive it through. [Post edited 26 Sep 15:19]

Sphericals! If you are a professional football club competing in this country, you are professionally required to participate in all PL-/FA-/EFL-adminstered competitions fielding, when last I heard, your strongest team. The trouble is the authorities no longer have any authority/credibility in ensuring this is the case, having pissed on their own bonfires over any number of years. If Citeh and the rest (the culpability is of course endemic and percolates down the football pyramid - Klopp, for one, was almost as bad) want to spit on the EFL Cup from their obscene height, fine, in my view, they should be massively fined, removed from other competitions too, or both. |

He's the CEO. As far as I know, we don't have a DoF, post-Les. |

A bit harsh to say the least - are you feeling pre-menstrual or something else? Perhaps he's just got a better job! Good luck to the guy, either way. [Post edited 25 Sep 0:59]

I was (am) already nervous and don't expect the ref's performance to significantly change anything. |

Amusingly, I note the online form opens a drop-down menu where one can answer 'no' to the question as to whether one wishes to attend. (Doing so presumably makes filling in the rest of it redundant, one would assume - unless the club's assembling some kind of blacklist of nay-sayers.) |

Pet peeve: Why does football always say 'before a ball was kicked in anger' rather than, say, 'in earnest' or, here's an idea, 'in joy'? [Post edited 25 Sep 12:05]

As Beckett said, 'the essential doesn't change'. There are clearly indefeasible market/professional forces that mean beer at QPR can never/neither be sanely priced or poured. Lee Hoos explained it all to us before he mercifully stepped down (or aside). [Post edited 24 Sep 23:39]

All of which are great questions, no? Now Nourry has taken over football matters, perhaps he can answer one or two. |

Call me old-fashioned, but what business are 'football matters' of CN anyway? That's the province of the coach/manager (or was for decades at least). |

βThe next round, I announce you, I play the second team,β said Guardiola. βWe are not going to waste energy, for sure.β What an utter c*nt! Does the EFL really have such contempt for their own competition that they're happy to allow this public cynicism to be amplified without censure? Let's hope the PL find that horrible pseudo-club guilty of all 115+ charges and dump them out of professional competition pdq! |

I can't see this squad in the top half, I'm afraid. 12th-16th is probably how it'll play out. We lack quality, creativity and cutting edge. |

Football clubs treating fans as idiots/inconveniences (while blowing smoke up our arses whenever possible) - blow me down with a blue and white feather! Fans are the abused children of the game - told we're 'special', and more often than not treated like sh*t! It's why I conduct my fandom with a certain psychological distance (as well as mad passion), these days, though I wish the years hadn't forced me to. [Post edited 23 Sep 21:55]
