Your best and worst ever QPR moment witnessed as a fan and as an armchair fan !!
at 06:18 7 Jan 2025

Agree about Leeds (1976) and the Oldham play-off semi- was at both and the atmosphere was wonderful. Coming back from 0-2 down against Liverpool (when they were killing time before getting on the bus for home) to win 3-2 was wonderful, too. It was Jamie Mackie's Aguero moment.

I don't think that defenders appealed, either, did they?

Yes, I wonder what it would be like if that weather (Christmas to early March!!) were to be repeated one day.

So, on balance, you're not too keen on them, Grove?

Luton were the opponents for our first match on the Loftus Road plastic. They won.

The coldest/wettest you've ever been at a match
at 19:27 2 Jan 2025

Ah. I have remembered the coldest one. That was at Swindon, too, on 12 January 1963. The big freeze of 1962-63 had started at Christmas 1962 and the thaw did not arrive until early March 1963 (off at a tangent, but, how prepared are you for another winter like that?).

The pitch was covered in hard-packed, frozen snow. At the 'warm'-up, it was clear that the Rangers players could hardly stand up. Our hosts, however, had been taken by their manager Bert Head, to the 'Bata' shoe shop - to buy basketball boots - on the morning of the match. They were much better able to stand up and play.

Only a tiny handful of games were played that Saturday. This one should not have been. But it was and Swindon won 5-0.

I had recently moved to a school in Swindon. That Saturday was miserable. So was Monday morning.

Not sure about coldest but the wettest was probably on Stratton Bank at the County Ground, for Swindon v QPR, in the League Cup, in 2008. We won and I remember that Ledesma revelled in the conditions, but, there was no cover and it chucked it down for the whole match.

I suspect that Jack would have thought that, with the added time, that would be plenty of time to pick up a red card

Yes. The test for the Rs is how they manage the game, 3-1 up with about 15 minutes to go. Saito and Madsen coming on to help - we hope.

Injuries

Our best team ever (1975/76) suffered occasional injury problems, but, with poorer pitches, a heavier ball, tougher tackling and only one substitute allowed, it was pretty consistent in its line-up.
Why, with the facilities available, the huge number of substitutes allowed, so many tackles penalised, the better pitches and the advances in medical science, do we (and other teams) have so many injury problems?

Marti - Norwich

'One game at a time', of course, but when we look at our last nine matches, we can see four wins, four draws and one defeat; 12 goals scored, seven conceded, 16 points gained. If we were to we maintain that form until the end of the season, we would end up with 64 points. These figures guarantee nothing regarding the matches ahead, but they do, at least, put in perspective that Christmas Pudding performance at Swansea.

After Boxing Day and after a radical re-shuffle to cope with injuries, it surely tells us something that so many of us are actually disappointed with a 1-1 draw at Norwich!!
Well done Rangers. Yes, it could have been three points but we appreciate that effort that went into that (and Marti's management of the resources).
