Anyone one remember Millington walking on his hands when we scored a goal? Also for those on or near pensionable age Tony had one of his saves pictured in the Shoot magazine which was the footy Mag of it's time.
There's playing out from the back with 30 passes that gets you as far as the halfway line with the keeper getting about 5-6 of those touches. That tends to happen when the opposition don't press aggressively. Then there's playing out from the back when they do press aggressively which tends to be suicidal unless you have the standard of players who are of a quality to do it. I know it's perceived to be the modern game but is it that entertaining when it's tried for the majority of the game?
Page certainly is not the man. Whoever is will not succeed with this less than average bunch of players. We were spoilt with our run in the 2016 Euro's. Those type of players have slowly eroded and we've had very little quality coming through. I'm all for being patriotic and wishing us to do well but I am a realist too.
I keep seeing people regularly rattling on about Ginnelly coming back for next season. Can we really be excited about a guy who has featured 6 times for us having scored one blockbuster goal? He did well at Hearts but so has McKay and Kingsley. Prior to that he had a handful of games for teams like Walsall, Lincoln and Tranmere and pulled up no tree's. I sincerely hope that he will find a home here and does well. Personally I just don't get the hype.
Well done to him. Yes he had a good squad. However many managers can fail with a good squad. I disliked his football here not him. He does look from the way they defended yesterday he has learnt that you cannot play every game the same.
If he's improved here as some suggest. How bad was he at Boro'. I don't see clubs getting excited about buying a very average player for a 6 figure fee.
