I saw him in a yoof game against Citeh's equivalents when I lived in Manchester. He was totally unplayable, hands down the best player by some margin.

As the game wore on, their fans and a few of us present were joined in talking about the talent we were being treated too.

Had the world at his feet.

I don't follow the Prem enough. However, these injuries you refer to, are they caused by unforeseen in-game tackles etc. or are they muscular due to what they're doing in training and/or way they're playing?

If it's the former, then you'd have to look at the manager. Older dogs will recall we picked up a lot of injuries during Gerry Francis' first tenure which, as I recall, were blamed on 'Terror Tuesday '.

I'm of the district opinion that some on here think all QPR have to do is put a contract on the table and the player will sign it.

No other factors exist and if the player doesn't sign, then QPR must have cocked up. Doesn't matter if the player wants to go, has a better offer, a bigger club is interested, personal reasons, we can't afford his demands, etc. because such factors don't exist. Ever. It's only ever about what QPR want.

I thought the very same when I was back over the Crimbo!

They're really a property management/hotel company now. That site in Chiswick must be itching their balls to develop and once they've sent the brewery and recipe down the M4 to Reading or somewhere for Asahi to make, they'll be putting flats up double quick time.

In my booze fueled years selling advertising for ITV, whenever there was something due to air featuring Mick/Stones or Marianne, getting on to the agency who had the Mars account was mandatory.

The best bit was when you had to explain to a less aware colleagues or buyers why.

What a life she had (see Huble and w7r's posts above).

I still rue Ray Houghton not signing (when it looked to be a done deal) and Miky Hazard. A mate of mine swore blind that as he was exiting the box office, Hazard exited LR and intimated it was on.

Houghton would have been outstanding in the B&W and I think Hazard in that Venables team would have similarly shone.

I believe I am right when I say this, but didn't we miss out on signing Kevin Keegan from Scunthorpe over a few thousand pounds? Our prevarication merely galvanised Liverpool into action.

The rest, as they say, is history!

Basically, it revolves around the father of the bride in Cana going something like this, 'Crap, we've run out of wine, but we've lots of water. Oi, Jesus, we need a miracle!'

See further the LFW Glossary thread for the QPR equivalent of running out of wine, too.

It might be sensible and cost-effective to read John 2:1-12 for clues on the chemical formula to turn water into wine.

The bigger problem is that 5 months in, he's not made nor appeared to be a discernable difference to that which the UK has endured post-Brexit.

Being in opposition is considerably easier than government. People forget how hopelessly forlorn Thatcher's first few years were prior to the Falklands, and the new party in power often needs time to bed in to being in government. Blair, however, was considerably more savvy upon taking the reins; rolling out policies generally seen as favourable and having in Jonathan Powell, a smart operator as his chief of staff.

Starmer has already dropped his chief of staff and lead with decisions that have not gone down well. The winter fuel payments were particularly hard to explain. However, he's on to a loser from the outset in my view. I don't think the Tory press will give him a chance and will certainly seek to vilify at every opportunity above and beyond what was metered out to his five immediate predecessors who frequently deserved vilification.

But he does need to up his game because we can't necessarily rely upon the Argies to rouse themselves into action (although I suspect Senór Milei would be up for it) and that supposes we've kept our military capabilities up over the last 43 years, to being able to sail 8,000 miles south to engage in a conflict.

Frankly, when looking at the matter globally, there appear to be far too many egotistical and idiotic leaders in charge then there are clever ones.
