Match Thread on 16:52 - Nov 30 by D_Dale | Ironic that a makeshift defence keeps a clean sheet. |
Is it makeshift though? Bennett is a centre half many thought would have a good future and Eastham was one of Hill's first signings. They should be capable of doing their job. What formation did we end up playing?

Match Thread on 17:06 - Nov 30 with 1929 views | RespectTheChemistry | Very much so...Rafferty and Rose had to get used to playing as fullbacks with 2 centre halfs again, Eastham has been playing with 2 other centre halfs and first time (I believe) Bennett has played at centre half this season. Some substantial changes there.

Need Donnelly back, but its absolutely crucial we sign a centre forward who can hold the ball up as well as contributing his share of goals. Accy's Odejayi for me

Dale Player said we still played with 3 centre backs. Did I mishear?

We are probably currently good enough for a top 7 place but that type of forward could possibly make us top 3 by the end of the season.

Match Thread on 17:13 - Nov 30 with 1866 views | rich_dale | It's long been the case that a COG-esque centre forward is what could make the difference. To be fair to Donnelly he looks more like that type of player than we all thought this time last year. Persepctive needed now - we're in the mix and in a great position. Praise to the back five today in keeping a clean sheet without our main two CBs.

if we didn't go for odejayi when he initially became available i cant see hilly doing it in January he'd be a great signing no doubts about it

Donnelly is what he is: an impact player at various stages in the game. If he's the answer, I'm not sure we're asking the right question.

Even if we go for the loan option, I'm sure there must be forwards out there who'd be more effective than Cummins Nothing against the lad, but he is what he is, and he's just not got the physical presence to do the job we need

Another downside is that we would have to ask that horrible cretin Mr Evans nicely to get him until the end of the season (might want to extend his deal with Accy too). Is he still transfer listed does anybody know?

Match Thread on 17:20 - Nov 30 with 1790 views | RotherhamDale | When i've seen Hogan up front in a front 2, he's looked a different class. When he's a lone forward or out wide, he doesn't seem to have the same impact. Is Hill being overly cautious? Or tactically astute? The league table looks good but it's all going to stretch out at some stage.

After the cup, its Fleetwood and Southend next up. Without wishing to be negative, we need something from those games or we're putting the pressure on ourselves during the crucial Xmas/NY fixtures

Next week Cummins is barred from playing in the cup, so KH will have to bring in someone else. Bunney? But he'll probably play an extra defensive midfielder to try to smother Rotherham's attack.
Match Thread on 17:37 - Nov 30 with 1682 views | KenBoon | I went to Fleetwood vs Oxford today. Neither team are particularly amazing. Fleetwood were better first half (Oxford could hardly be worse) but Oxford absolutely battered them in the second half and should have won by a few. Side note. After a draw with top of the league, some Fleetwood fans booed at the Full time whistle.
Match Thread on 17:37 - Nov 30 with 1682 views | 442Dale | Hill wasn't too happy with Cheeseman's assessment that it was a poor for most of the game. Also mentioned the ref again from Tuesday and that we should have drawn 3 out of the 6 games we lost.

The table indicates that there isn't really any standout team. When we play well we're a joy to watch, but we don't destroy teams in the same way the 09-10 team did when we were head and shoulders above every other team in the division .... no matter how we ended the season.

Chesterfield away in JPT we had an equalising goal disallowed wrongly. Probably a few more too... [Post edited 30 Nov 2013 22:20]

Cavanagh's red card at Burton in the first 15 minutes was a shocker!
