Rangers have been locked in talks with the Argentine club over a deal for the highly-rated Colombian striker.
West Ham had previously struck a deal before pulling out earlier this summer, while other clubs from around Europe such as Italians Napoli and Sassuolo, French side Evian and Spaniards Atletico Madrid have all shown an interest in recent weeks.
However, Rangers have now managed to broker a deal for Zapata worth $10million (£6.4million).
Zapata is now due to arrive in England over the weekend to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical.
The 22-year-old, who is expected to be part of Colombia's squad for next year's World Cup finals, will then need a work-permit - which will have to go to appeal.
QPR are hopeful that Zapata will be granted the move under the 'special talent' ruling.

He's all of those things, yes. But so Usain Bolt - hmmm, saying that I probably would like us to sing Bolt...
In that video of him earlier on this thread they seem to show all his touches against Boca Juniors. He didn't stay as central as I would have expected - very mobile, great movement imo, likes to give and receive flick ons and seems to play with a very lively mind, if that makes sense.

Sky on their transfer centre section showed video of Trevor arriving at Heathrow.
Went as far as to say that a 4 year deal has been agreed.
Can we nickname him Trevor?
Did they?? Has it?? Only trouble is this bl**dy work permit though. I think Trevor would be a perfick name don't you ...gotta be better than duvet or summink!

According to a colombia work colleague. he is on the verge of big things and the hottest young prospect in the country that hasn't been capped yet. As aforementioned colombian work colleague lives in Sheps Bush, he will now be attending every match if the deal goes through.

He's working as a hostess in a transvestite club in Fortaleza. Lovely girl - I can PM you the details.
Please do Craig.
I must admit, on the face of all this, I like the sound of him. Estudiantes aren't shi t, He's not cheap either, but, sounds like the sort of player Hughes & Rigg said we were after, if they hadn't been money grabbing liars.
Defoe, flat track bully or not, could have signed last year, but wanted 80K a week, more than Rangers were prepared to pay, or, for that matter, ever have, so now, I'll always feel that he is only here for the money, no matter how well he may do.
He will be 'The boogie woogie bugle boy' from now on. Official.

It's going to be like Football Manager. Find great young prospect get appeal refused because you are QPR
We could have 'El Pirata' and 'El Revolucionario'.... no? ok Trevor it is.
Can someone not tell that other site about Trevor though, incase they make the connection with a German 1960's tv series (or some other f'kin randon connection) and deem it wacist. Danke
