Second signing of the day! on 21:51 - Jul 26 by robshaker | didn't see any objections to suddenlads comment brierls.. big Jessie has been with us for some time and has earned his contract he's also played in 3 or 4 European leagues so not exactly inexperienced and certainly not a 'kid in a sweet shop signing' ... tho we shall see eh.. noticed as the season draws nearer the brown eyes get bigger! |
Is it 3 or 4 European Leagues? And at what level? You have actually researched this before typing about how experienced he is?

Have YOU done any research, not Bury. Are they all pro level? Sure one didn't drop its professional status? And again, is it 3 or 4?

So are you up to giving me a right good dicking if we finish in the bottom half? My arse is the best offer you'll ever have in your life robbo! Anything you'd care to offer in return? Reckon bury are up for a top half finish or what? #aintgonnahappen [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Second signing of the day! on 16:12 - Jul 26 by fitzochris | Devil's advocate here, purely, but can Hogan be expected to play every game at the same intensity? I know we have Donnelly et al, but none are out and out goal scorers (although Donnelly does seem to be improving there). If Grant hadn't gone to Blackpool, he'd still be a member of the squad battling for his place. Would it be completely unreasonable to replace him? I don't think anyone would say Grant's ability was surplus to requirements. Points purely for consideration, as I say. |
From the first half vs. blackburn, having witnessed one superb finish for his first goal and then curling a beauty round the keeper from 30ish yards (questionably disallowed for offside!), it was enough for me to be confident Hogan is a natural goal scorer. And those players can do the business when they're not at they're most intense. Only time will tell, but I really think this lad is/could be that good. If you consider the development hilly will have planned for him to improve his game, added to the quality of service into him from the likes of done, hendo etc, its difficult for me not to get a bit giddy. Given that GD also seems to be improving game on game, I think between those two, with Bunney as back-up, I have no concerns that we're light on the centre forwards.

And with that post, trueblue83 gently ushers all the sane people away from the mental bloke from bury.....

Don't like slagging off any other club, everybody supports who they support for a reason, but even if he has looked like a world-beater whilst on trial he has been released after just one season from each of the clubs he has played for on his personal tour of Europe. Lets hope for your sake he is better then the last "unknown"future superstar that a big mate and Bury fan raved about(forgotten his name now--old age striking but it began with an "A"--not my mates name that is-still know that) who went on to star for some club down south in about the 10th level of the English game. Could be that he will your equivalent of our Trevor Snowden. Still all the best for the new season -hope everything works out at Gigg wouldn't be the same without having such a big famous club as our near neighbours giving us something to aspire to!!!

I think the key sentence in your post there, is only time will tell. Should consistency be an issue (and no one would blame Hogan given his age and experience), we at least know Hilly said the funds are there to bring in the relief. As I say, cannot wait to see this new look side on the field. I guess Preston will provide another yardstick today, too.
