To say we are on an unbeaten run and that we went ahead after 26 secs our fans today were quiet, we need to get behind our team more as there were more noise on the main road from an minority than there was from 1018 fans in the ground. Everyone needs to get behind them instead of making negative comments like "were better off with 10 than adebola " adebola set up all 3 goals today. Get real

(Amongst other things) - One of the last straws was myself and my wife being 'frisked' and having her bag contents inspected prior to entering the ground. It was made clear that a refusal to allow the search would result in us not being admitted.

While it doesn't bother me to the same extent as thee Suddenlad, I don't actually see what it is achieving and would knock it on the head for this reason.

When this does occur it's about as thorough as civil service internal investigation and any so-and-so wishing the hide a lambretta or a chicken or a fox about their persons would have no problems whatsoever.

I think I was frisked twice last season, not been checked out this season, it's very occasional.

I never had this Olympic security check you speak off

I'd barely call it being frisked

I was saying that the frisking was about as useful as a chocolate fireguard tazbo, not that it was like Rupert Murdoch trying to get through the gates of heaven.

It's more than just 'a few' I would venture to suggest. Add me to the list. I've seen only one game thus far this season (Barnet).

Just reached a point where we are fed up of being ignored as customers (personally, for over 50 years) and treated like a potential thug by stewards who think they are somehow empowered to treat people how they like without the need for courteousness or civility, though I am aware that not ALL stewards are pig-ignorant.

(Amongst other things) - One of the last straws was myself and my wife being 'frisked' and having her bag contents inspected prior to entering the ground. It was made clear that a refusal to allow the search would result in us not being admitted.

Sadly, I've come to the conclusion that supporters are no longer the priority, so I've decided that watching Dale and spending good money in doing so isn't my priority either.

"One of the last straws was myself and my wife being 'frisked' and having her bag contents inspected prior to entering the ground. It was made clear that a refusal to allow the search would result in us not being admitted."

That's genuinely shocking. Assuming your wife doesn't look remotely like a trouble-making thug, the act of having good people submit to this type of personal intrusion is an act of cowardice; done to justify their job and to pretend they're in some way acting in a protective way against the real thugs that attend matches.

It's the same mentality that millions of people have to suffer as we queue to catch our hard-earned flights to the sun on holiday. Taking your belt off, removing laced-up shoes, having toiletries confiscated (happened to my daughter). Idiocy of the highest order, to maintain the pretence that we're being protected from something.

I dare say most of us would know the profiles of those looking to cause trouble (notwithstanding Ricardo's recent rant!!!).

Tazzy was able to attend Olympic events this summer and the level of security check Suddenlad mentions is akin to what levels Tazzy witnessed.

Hope this helps.

My point was that the poster in question didn't mention the Olympics.

But Tazzy was clearly comparing to the level of security at a Rochdale game to that of a major international event.

That you didn't get his scathing sarcasm is no great shame.

That's not my point.

My point, as in SuddenLad's missus having her bag checked for "security" reasons, is that such actions are pretences at making football grounds safer places, just as having millions of extremely low-risk citizens subjected to draconian levels of airport security is a pretence at making flying less risky.

Naturally, not all terrorists are going to look like Abu Hamza (or even his missus) but the current measures are in effect doing the terrorists work for them.

Edit: And when push comes to shove, anyone wanting to get through security isn't going to have too much of a problem, are they?

I know where you are coming from but given history, i personally will take 30 mins extra queueing time and having to cheese some poor inspector to death with my trainers over the 1/1,000,000,000 chance that the sweet looking blonde lass is actually packing TNT in her stilletoes when on my jaunts.

I see it as normal nowadays, same as no smoking in pubs and wearing a seatbelt.

I was waiting for that response. See my edit.

The "health" issues that you quote aren't remotely in the same category as airport or football ground security. No-one is actively seeking to harm someone else, as far as I can see, by smoking or not wearing a seatbelt.

I fully appreciate the need for security measures - my point is that the football bag-checking of middle-aged women and shoe-removing of millions of people is merely a superficial pretence at security, whereas the actual risks remain the same.

I think we may be on the same page, in part at least.

I initially said that the checks at spottyland are pointless, for they achieve nothing.

We'll differ on the shoes at airport thing and confiscation of liquids, for i recognise that this is a known threat and therefore agree with the authorites that it is checked before boarding.

It'd be a courageous Transport Secretary who relaxed such checks. Please don't ever stand for Parliament.

I agree about probably being in the same chapter of the book, if not quite the same page

And I'd regard standing for parliament as a risk to my personal health & security.

To add some contrast to this story, the experience from all the staff at Accrington yesterday couldn't have been more welcoming.

From the programme seller, to the turnstile operator, to the stewards outside and inside the ground, there was a genuine feeling of how pleased they were to welcome us to their ground.

"Enjoy the game" was certainly uttered more than once on our way in.

I agree with that. We always get a good welcome at Accy. The Dale fan who went onto the pitch before the match was escorted off with a friendly arm round him from the steward. I bet he didn't get thrown out?
It is sad that Dale fans are feeling so unloved by the club - I hope someone from the club is reading this or perhaps those feeling let down could write.

Awful atmosphere from dale today on 15:03 - Oct 8 with 817 viewsNerazzurri

Perhaps it's just me but I don't feel any more loved or unloved than at any point in the 18 years I've been watching Rochdale. I go, hand over my ticket at the turnstile, watch the game, have a few pints in Studds and then leave. Pretty much as simple as that. But on the occasions when I've been in hospitality or the club shop etc I've had no complaints about the service I've received.

I do agree with the many valid points raised on here regarding the development of the club but we have been raising those for years.

We were a unique club in that we were all united in reaching that goal of a promotion. And then we got relegated. We've lost our unique selling point, we are just a normal club now. But small clubs with small budgets will be relegated at some point, simple as.

I do feel there is still a bit of snobbery towards Coleman and his ex Accrington signings as well by a lot of people. Almost as if we were to achieve promotion again it would be a case of "Well Keith Hill's promotion team were better"

Now is the time where we should all be together again because we have a decent team and maybe with a bit of belief and extra backing we could get back on track to where we all want to be.

Forza Nerazzurri

You Reap What You Sow .

the club has had a blahzah attitude towards fans for so long its amazing anybody goes to watch them ( i dont anymore),they dont seem to realise it is very easy to get out of the habit of going to football and spending the money elsewhere.Maybe when its too late the penny will drop.
