'The hard of thinking'..superbly arrogant & condescending phrase..very contemptuous Dr. David Starkeyesque.

Iwent to the Olympics last night and I was quite happy to boo Theresa f--king May,and so were thousands of others. Why they have to have medals presented by politicians is beyond me anyway when there are thousands of people suited to give out awards.

Maybe the tories will get the message that turning up at the Paralympics while the govt has just closed loads of Remploy factories wasn't the smartest move. But then they are so thick skinned and thick as shoite they probably won't get the message.

They are unbelievably thick-skinned. Near enough every single person in this country thinks Jeremy Hunt should have been sacked, or possibly even charged by the old bill, for his behaviour during the Murdoch bid for Sky. And yet Cameron rewards him with a promotion to health secretary.

I'm glad its not just me. All the comment on Hunt-for-Lansley seemed to be about Lansley getting sacked and none about WTF Hunt is still doing inn the cabinet, let alone getting promoted.
Whatever you think of the govt I'm amazed at just how incompetent Lansley, Gove and Hunt have been yet the reshuffle is allegedly about promoting people who are competent.

Of course all businesses shouldn't be bailed out just because they are going bankrupt. And that has never been the case. NEVER. So why bring it up? Just a distraction.
The circumstances dictate the policy.
You think you can hide stupidity behind a stupid phrase like zombie business? So what that someone used it in the newspaper? That doesn't mean it isn't a stupid phrase designed to hide stupid policies.
The latest bailout prove definitively that when used properly bailouts can be a very effective policy. GM didn't go bankrupt and is now making record profits. Had they gone bankrupt then the spiral impacts on the economy would have meant that it would have gone into even deeper rescession. As it was, the rescission was surprisingly shallow. Although the world economies are still desperately weak, they are nothing like they would have been without the bailouts. Banks were about to fold en mass; the unemployment and credit shortage from just the banks would have had a devestating effect. The auto industry wouldn't have survived and nor would of the airlines.
Sure, in your high school economics class they may talk about that when one buisiness goes bankrupt anothersteps in to fill the niche, but that rebound is just academic talk. In the middle of a rescession, with millions joining the dole queue, nobody is going to be setting up a new auto manufacturer. 20 years down the line it might happen, but not quick enough to save the economy.
