Any possibility of the Greatest Escape Ever? 17:20 - Feb 1 with 1261 viewsSouthamptonfan

We would all say no, I would imagine. However in 2006, West Ham won 8 out of their final 10 games, after being ten points adrift. Our local rivals also escaped after being many points adrift.

Hmm. At least we should beat Derby's record low points total.

Didn’t West Ham have players of Carlos Tevez’s I’lk. We have, er……

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

We're going down for sure - that's nailed on. It's now all about beating Derby's 2007-08 eleven-point total and, thanks to today, one more win from somewhere will do it!

All we can do is keep trying
The trouble is for every Fernandez there is a Stephen’s so we are 50% worse off than most teams at KO
Juric impresses me tho, nice to have a manager who doesn’t talk endless cliche BS post game

I hope not. I'm still hoping for a 2025/26 south coast derby!

Be careful what you wish for, then!

To answer the question. It has taken us until the 24th game to win our second. we are not even good enough for the Championship right now. Two teams will be relegated above us and any thought of a great escape will evaporate by next Sunday, alas.

The way our three Centre Backs were all over the pitch yesterday…

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Yes, three at the back, without sufficiently covering full backs, is too chancy against the better teams; the centre backs are too easily exposed having to cover too much ground while the full backs are still half way up the pitch or desperately sprinting back (aka KWP and whoever's left back)- which is not proper defending - you defend with your back to your own goal.

The present formation can be easily picked apart. Go to a 4-4-2 solidity and then we might have a chance of not conceding easy goals ( in my dreams!) and building from there. If we carry on defending like we are then we have no chance.

Hopefully Juric will adapt accordingly - it'll be interesting to see how he sets the team up against Bournemouth; the present system would be suicidal.

I would say very little possibility.
It’s too late and it’s the hope that does for you.

This fan would be happy with continued improvement and a bit of consistency.

Surpass Derby’s measly points tally and that’ll do.

Just sums up how badly we have been managed……..
