Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ??? 21:54 - Dec 21 with 7778 views | numptydumpty | A decent run of form solves a great deal of ills. I was as worried as most with our direction and it truly wasn't smelling of roses around here for long periods. I can't say hardly anyone saw this coming but things are seriously looking much much better. So as for signings Nardi Morrison Varane Morgan Saito All looking good Signings injured but have had few signs of improvement Dembele Celar Youth players progressing well Kolli Lloyd Other signings - some hopes Ashby Madsen Ones that a way to go Santos Bennie Existing squad players performing / injured Cook Dunne Smyth Field Chair Frey JCS Colback Others Paal EDB Anderson Seems a squad that does have more depth than previously if we look at recent form. Was Nourry ster right all along??? And as soon as we have all been made aware of who is injured once when they are due back - has coincided with upturn in form. Suddenly this forum has all gone quiet on the Nourry Out rhetoric !!! Am not being a smart a*se. I was worried about the set up as much as anyone,.. Was the data right all along ?? Completely agree but I guess we just have to âtrust the processâ with Madsen. I canât see it working out but then heâs just not my sort of player. The cool kids on Twitter seem to think heâs doing ok but I canât see it yet. The left-back situation was indeed a farce that will have to be remedied unless Larkeche is the grand plan. Not going to get overexcited now weâre at the dizzy heights of 14th just as it was silly to overreact after half a dozen games. If we can be here in March knowing we arenât going down and needing an unlikely but possible run to nab sixth thatâll do.

How many more times! Marti has significant input into all player signings, as he's said himself, as well as saying numerous times he trusts and likes his players and their mentality. All performance-related problems are everyone's issue at the club, but mostly the coach's as (i) he is involved in recruitment, (ii) trains the players, and (iii) implements the playing style/game plan, who gets credit or criticism accordingly. He was rightly being questioned by some of us at least when we were down among the dead men, and still is when we look at games like Oxford and Bristol City, and yesterday he and his players get some rapturous/cautious applause. That's the way it works, and Marti knows that as well as anyone. [Post edited 22 Dec 22:31]

Nourry doesn't have 'zero' experience in football, even if he seems to have sugarcoated his CV (as I'm sure many of us have) to some degree. Just out of interest - what would it take to revise your opinion of him as CEO or at least dial down on the agenda-driven hysteria about him that's been promulgated here? If you really think he's a fraud, it's Hoos and the owners you should be turning your ire on, I suggest, as he didn't get the role of CEO by abracadabra.

Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ??? on 10:37 - Dec 22 by dmm | You may prove right about Nourry in the long term, but the issues with this CEO are not only about player recruitment. His communication (or rather the lack of it) strategy has pee'd off a large section of the fans and he appears to have shut down Cifuentes' engagement with this site and the supporters evening. That's control freakery which, in my experience, always rings alarm bells. |
Except you don't know that Marti didn't appear at the FF because he was prevented from doing so, so you're peddling tiresome speculation as if it were fact. What does that leave you and your ilk with? The fact that Cifuentes won't/doesn't want to talk to a fans site - which again may well be MC's personal decision (and prerogative)? That's just risible! We all enjoy posting here, but we're really not that important - what part of that don't you get? I'm not convinced of Nourry, but I'm not convinced of Marti either, or the owners, or some of the players, so take a chill pill (I know it's me talking before the usual suspects pile in with their hilarious emoticon-laden sideswipes), and enjoy the weekend! Where are the on 09:57 - Dec 22 by stevec | Granted, the forward signings have been less than good, but Nardi, Varane, Morgan and Morrison have been excellent signings. To be fair, I donât think many of the signings were brought in to start games, largely theyâre here to give us a better bench, theyâre young and would have slowly been introduced to the first team. Iâd say only Nardi, Dembele and possibly Madsen were brought in to start. Sadly we were quickly decimated by injuries to first team regulars and theyâve all had to play far sooner than intended. Weâve had a successful first half of 2024 under this regime and a poor second half although that has presently improved. Itâll be interesting to see if the club fall back on the recent improvement as a cushion for the rest of the season, which might easily backfire, or try to do something about CF in Jan and be better set up for the start of next season. Now is not really the time to be pulling against the existing club structure. |

Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ??? on 23:28 - Dec 22 with 1395 views | muckduck | Yeah we did seem to forget about 99% of the off the pitch problems when Mick Beale had us top of the league. Sometimes the on field results genuinely do control the narrative entirely. Some of the Nourry criticism is really fair IMO. Though some take it way too far. The communication with fans, potentially an over-reliance on data (if we didn't have Marti as coach, would we be adrift already?) and ironically the bigger money signings being the most suspect (Madsen, Celar). With that said, some of the newbies are extremely impressive as the OP has mentioned - we really only need one to go for big money to recoup any losses on the players that don't work out. Nourry also had a big role to play in moving away from the Ainsworth style of football and recruiting Marti (though I imagine he's exaggerated his involvement in this a fair bit). I think he has been somewhat fortunate with Marti's coaching bailing us out of what could have been an even worse start, but alot of his suggestions and improvements are really healthy for the club - if he's willing to amend mistakes (communication) and learn along the way I don't think it's fair to hold it against him. It gets mentioned quite alot about our head of Performance working remotely - Whilst it would be nice to have him UK based, the exact same processes that were successful last season would still be in place - he shouldn't need to be there in person to re-inforce this, it should already be being done. Really don't think the growing injury list is a direct impact of him working remotely, I get why it would be annoying to some but I just don't see it. Overall for me, I think he has the right objectives in terms of where we need to move to as a club - but the execution of this has been really turbulent particularly with the injury situation, somewhat outside of his control. Certainly not calling for a new CEO anyhow. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Rude as ever. Yes, I know Cifuentes has input into signings just as Belk does but, as CEO and de facto director of football, the buck stops with Nourry. While he must then take the lion share of the blame, Cifuentes has to find the solutions. And, in regard to your reply to my other post regarding Nourry's communication strategy, your argument works both ways. You don't know either. I prefer to take Clive's perspective on this particular issue rather than a contrarian like you.

Crikey. You made your point about the left back issue. To be fair we have got Paal, and also Fox who has played left back as many times as he has played centre back and JCS has filled in there previously also. The latter two seemingly more injured than fit and Paal injured occasionally and out of form. And yes Santos was a mistake hence why Ashby brought in. Probably more down to Belk than Nourry but bash Nourry consistently with this one. And for whatever Nourry is or isn't, if you think he is the problem, having exaggerated his CV, it's the owners you should be calling out. The multi millionaire businessmen that appointed him, who obviously according to yourself been shafted by a young guy exaggerating his CV. As if they have never seen that kind of thing before. Give the guy some time. We are not in this for the short term. Clearly whatever you do as a job, you have got every decision you have ever made 100% on the money. Fair question....I'd like to see/hear the strategy he has for the club, the 10 year vision, what are the key pillars to delivering that vision and strategy. I'd assume those centre around player development, given our investment into the training ground, player recruitment and business operations, so what are the the key objectives for these areas, what are the timelines and how they all piece together to deliver a cohesive plan to move the club back on to a successful path. I would expect this to be initially shared at the fans forum and then provide ongoing progress updates at the forums, I believe there should be 3 per season, at the start, middle and end of season. I'd expect to hear from him, the heads of operations, development and recruitment, as well as the first team manager at these forums. I'd then expect forums to allow for fans to have the freedom to ask unvetted questions to this panel, I'd like him to engage with the leading fan groups on a regular basis to get feedback and share relevant updates. Your point about the owners/Hoos/investors/shareholders, as a CEO, his role is to manage them and engage them, take their feedback to enhance/amend his plan as needed, but ultimately he knows and they know, the responsibility for delivery of the strategy and meeting performance targets sit solely with the CEO, he/she is then measured on that. The performance of the 10 players signed in the summer is a peripheral point. I'm sure I've missed many relevant points, but in the 10mins I've had to think about your question, this is what would make me revise my opinion, and I'd love that to happen.

January will be interesting. The fact that we had to cancel Hayden's loan to get Ashby in shows there is not a lot of financial leeway. Possibly need to get Bennie, Santos and Dixon-Bonner out on loan but that doesn't do a great deal for the type of player/s the fans want. We are also going to find out if we can manage without Cook next season.

Those who defend Nourry on transfers by pointing out the success of Nardi, Morrison, Kolli, Varane etc overlook that Madsen and Cellar accounted for about 80% of our budget. So that has to go down as really poor spending of scarce resources. But equally those attacking him for not having a better reserve left back - I mean, is that really the end of the world, and do you not think budgets might have something to do with it? I am sure in an ideal world he would like six world class left backs but he has to prioritise. Finally - all this banging on about communications (only on this board BTW). I accept the initial approach to it was a bit Pravda-esque, but honestly the average fan is not obsessing about this. A regime is judged on results, not on how much news it releases (or how many leaks/ sitdowns it gives to message boards). Overall his record is very mixed but whereas with Les and Hoos those old dogs were never going to learn new tricks, I'm cautiously optimistic that Nourry might.
