Swansea City 2 Haverfordwest County 0 16:04 - Jul 8 with 2081 views | KeithHaynes | Behind closed doors today at Fairwood. OS Swansea City began their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory over Haverfordwest County at Fairwood. In a behind closed doors game, the hosts played a different team in each half in what was their first outing under new head coach Michael Duff. The Swans dominated possession in the first period and had an early sight of goal when Joel Piroe headed just over from a Matt Grimes corner. Grimes himself then saw a free kick comfortably saved by Zac Jones, before the keeper was called into action to brilliantly keep out Piroe’s low effort from just inside the box. But the Dutch striker wasn’t to be denied minutes before the break, as he headed home a Grimes corner to give the hosts the lead at the interval. Following 11 changes at half time, the Swans came close to extending their lead on 54 minutes as Jamie Paterson fired just over, before Morgan Whittaker shot wide and Josh Thomas saw his effort superbly blocked inside the box after a wonderful flowing move. Whittaker then thought he’d doubled the home side’s lead with 73 minutes on the clock, but the forward saw his left-foot shot cleared off the line. Ben Cabango was next in line as he met Paterson’s deep corner from the left but the defender’s header came off the crossbar. Paterson was involved again two minutes later as he turned his man in the centre circle before playing Whittaker in on goal, but the former Derby man saw his effort saved by Jones. But the Swans were rewarded for their efforts with just six minutes left to play as Jay Fulton set up Josh Thomas who rifled in a low drive across the keeper to seal the win. Swansea City (first half): Andy Fisher, Brandon Cooper, Kyle Naughton, Nathan Wood, Joe Thomas, Ben Lloyd, Matt Grimes, Joe Allen, Ollie Cooper, Liam Cullen, Joel Piroe. Swansea City (second half): Lewis Webb, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Azeem Abdulai, Cameron Congreve, Joel Cotterill, Jay Fulton, Jamie Paterson, Olivier Ntcham, Josh Thomas, Morgan Whittaker.

If Piroe goes for big bucks then there is no urgency to move on Whittaker. Martin did not rate Whittaker and Copper did not rate Goykeres sadly. Managers even good one make horrible misjudgements. Surridge who Cooper rates is now available but is expensive. Our old friend Jamal Lowe is also linked with Portsmouth and cheap. Duff might like Josh Thomas as he presses aggressively but had hardly any senior experience. Josh made big stride last season and his finishing improved markedly. He got Ollie McBurney numbers.

That Grimes was taking set pieces in the first half means we have at least one more obvious job to fill in the transfer window.

His free kicks are fine if we have someone who is good at diving headers.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Just outside the penalty area where he can get a shot in if the corner is cleared.

Those just outside the box are usuall expected to get back if the breakaway is to be countered, so if the breakaway is held up then maybe but midfielders have to be careful about amount of sprinting because of the work rate they do which can lead to pulls and strains as Joe Allen has encountered, Grime tends to temper his work rate and flat out sprinting which has successfully negated those pulls and Strains.
Swansea City 2 Haverfordwest County 0 on 13:06 - Jul 9 with 1274 views | Badlands | In attack and defence we put too many player in the box. The tactic, in defence, is to reduce space for attacking players to get to the ball cleanly it means there is more chance of scrambling and scrappy goals conceded and that possession is given away on the edge of or just outside the penalty area. In attack we just get in each others' way.
