Sheep abuse is filth and Celtic people including Welsh are a well defined ethnic group. Accusing this group of bestiality is offensive in anyone's language. You do not accept it of course. Similarly Spanish and east European cannot see the fuss over what they might call 'bit of banter' against Africans. It is of course unacceptable.
They see Vicinius as playing to the crowd and are perhaps not minded to take action. You personally have no sympathy with my point of view that i am offended by Sheep themed slurs. This is not a surprise. My experience was in mixed company with young teenagers. It was intended to intimidate and was scary. Anglo supremacists should not be allowed to do this on our soil and the SWP should deal with it.
The club said they had a policy of 'zero tolerance'. Watch out because i suspect this zero tolerance might have drifted. "Fans singing 1-0 to the bestial perverts" is not a good optic.
Fans should not be allowed to engage in ethnic slurs as a bit of fun as a percentage of Welsh people (including women and young children) find it offensive and a small minority of away fans used it a a racist trope as part of far right English political groups.
Perhaps you do not see Swansea city as a family club and want it as a preserve of pseudo tough guys immune to abuse. Then I see the pseudo tough guys go ballistic over a twitter posts telling the fans that the club looks after it staff properly and an owner telling a fan to get a backbone. Everyone should be offended being falsely accused of being a bestial pervert. It is OK in the military barracks perhaps but not in the general public with teenagers and small children joining in the racist fun. Maybe Cyril can get involved?
The Welsh are a well recognised ethnic group derived from Celtic and ancient British tribes with a Celtic language and culture in a place called Cymru. DNA does not matter that much.
It is an identity I am proud of. If you are an immigrant and empathise with Wales that is welcome.
There is a society outside football who form a minority of people. Most Welsh people have never stood in the Swansea.com stadium precisely for the reason it is a low class family unfriendly place where filthy ethnic slurs banter is all part of the fun.
I cannot understand why people really care about an African in Spain when you do not give a damn in Swansea. I am pointing out it is two faced and inconsistent. The club claim to be zero tolerant. Zero means zero and this means stopping play and issuing warnings for lewd ethnic slurs from anyone.. There are FIFA protocols to be followed including playing behind closed doors.
I am minded to write and official complaint to see what might happen. If you get thrown out of the stadium you can blame me. You can run but you cannot avoid your social responsibilities as an adult. Everyone has to grow up sometime.
If you like you can ask for football fans to get a free pass and fans can make jokes about airplane crashes or Yorkshire DJs and make monkeys noises. If it is open house then I would not complain. I would not attend either and I would recommend my family to watch the rugby instead. i want Swansea city to be a genuine family club.
Swansea city can put a sign up outside. 18+ only and do not enter if easily offended by lewd s chanting and at interfaces between home and away fans.
Fans will find this post 'strange' but it is evolution. Alf Garnet's time is over. It is not coming back. | |
