Remember the day …….
Pole-axed by a little dog? Get up you wimpy goalie. You would expect the reaction nowadays but not back then. It wasn't Whisky the dog mascot was it? We always used to shout "mash him down and feed him to Whisky" if an opponent was down injured for any length of time. That was in my younger immature times obviously.

Sadly Brodie the keeper got knee ligament damage and after spending couple of seasons trying to get back to full fitness had to call it a day after only playing a few games on his return. U’s did win the game which up to that point was pretty close.
Also remember a mid 70’s FA cup tie at Layer Rd being abandoned mid way through second half has a Brentford player breaking his arm on a then frozen pitch. It was goalless at the time with the U’s not looking likely to score. Luckily the rearranged game saw the U’s through 3-2 .
Bees also had a FA cup fixture at Layer Rd, NOT against the U’s !!
In 2003 it took three attempts to finish our game at Griffin Park. New Years Day was rained off before kick-off, and in February it was frozen off at half time. We finally completed the game in March with a 1-1 draw. I went to all three

7th December 1996, FA Cup Round 2, Sudbury Town v Brentford was played at Layer Road. I don't know, but presumably Sudbury Town' ground didn't meet FA standards (just guessing).
Brentford won 3-1.
Up The U's.

Presumably a likely sell out will see our broken seats replaced
Instead of chucking them around, they should have brought the Portman Road seats back to the JobServe - would have saved us a few quid replacing the East stand missing seats.
