Football spot fixing 09:19 - May 25 with 3295 views | slmrstid | Spotted this breaking on BBC News this morning... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-61507085 While it features generally low level footballers do you think it could be rife at our level as well? Probably very hard to spot unless there's noticeable betting patterns on certain things. How would you feel if it broke that stuff like this was going on at our level as well? Would it turn you off or would you feel able to shrug it off thinking its only little things rather than outright results? (Although of course players deliberately getting booked/sent off can very much influence results!) I'd be very disappointed for sure.

Football spot fixing on 13:27 - May 25 with 2966 views | terryb | The football result fixing in the 1960's (pools, rather than betting) included first division players & England internationals. Prison sentances & lifetime bans from football were implemented, although players could appeal against the ban after a fixed period of time. I can't think of any reason why there would be a ceiling on the level of players that could be tempted.
Football spot fixing on 14:20 - May 25 with 2887 views | Northernr | Didn't Le Tissier admit doing this in the 90s? Deliberately belting the ball out from the kick off to force a set piece within the first ten seconds? Or have I dreamt that? Might explain Barbet's fondness for that spot in the West Paddock
Football spot fixing on 14:23 - May 25 with 2879 views | cyprusmel | I used to watch football in Cyprus and enjoyed going round the Island following a local team but after seeing two thrown games I gave it up and will not go again.
Football spot fixing on 14:24 - May 25 with 2878 views | EastR | I wouldn’t for a minute suggest anything untoward on his part, but I know I paid for more beers last season on the back of returns from bets on Sam Field to be booked — 14 cards in 29 games. Thanks Sam

Couple of ours were doing that as well. One of the games was 95th minute as well - very tense in the F block that day. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

... but on the other hand, when he got to 14 with three games left, didn't he do well in avoiding a 15th booking and a three game ban?

It was in Perry Groves autobiography they thought it was easy money Le Tissier kicked the ball out for a throw in on the left but Franny Benali kept the ball in and as the game carried on Le Tissier and Groves ran themselves into the ground to try and put the ball into touch. Did make me chuckle
Football spot fixing on 17:23 - May 25 with 2652 views | DavieQPR | With the wages floating around in the upper reaches of football now it would take an awful lot of money to make a bribe worthwhile and the bet to cover costs and profit would stand out a mile.

Remember the Cardiff home game when we won 6-1. A lad behind us had a Rangers win with both teams scoring and he was about the only Rangers supporter that day that had a bit of the hump until the 93rd minute and last kick of the game, step forward Mr Lumley. He celebrated as if we had just won the league.

Football spot fixing on 14:47 - May 26 with 2337 views | themodfather | i was never happy there is so much sponsorship from gaming/betting companies in football and most sports, huge bets leave the sports open to corruption, suspicion and fixing. whatever many feel horse racing is no sport of kings and boxing is dubious beyond belief. betting companies wan their names on shirts and signs and want your money. to hear even lower level footy is open to bribes and fixing is an eye opener. as a fan you would dread to think the penalty missed by your fave player , that sent your club down was deliberate!

Said he tried to, fcked the kick and it didn't go out, then had to scramble like a madman to get the ball out first to save his fingers from East Asian betting syndicates.

The wages of said players. That would make it difficult to tempt the top level players. You would have to pay them a significant amount, that would then have to be reflected on the money placed on that particular market. Very easy these days for bookies to spot anything unusual.
