Idea from another thread for a Summer LFW Thread...
Not stuff you hate, stuff you just never had the love for, understood, saw the big commotion about...
Me? Never got The Clash. Ya, I can see the talent. Ya, I can see the coolness. Ya, I know there's a Rangers connection...but...I just don't GET them the way loads of you do. It's like I'm missing a gene!
And also, I never got Ice Cream. Tried it again yesterday. Don't see the fuss.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
We are surrounded amazing music. There are thousands and thousands of incredibly talented singers out there and songwriters, musicians, composers, arrangers, sound engineers, recording engineers and producers.
So why the f.cuk does it all get reduced to a bloke fondling his knob whilst alternatively shouting and grunting the exact same note 2,000 times in a row whilst pretending to shoot someone.
It's about as enjoyable as root canal surgery but unfathomably popular.
WTF is WRONG with people?
No fan of rap music, but I appreciate Eminem as a genius lyricist. Equally I love the music of Oasis but think the lyrics sound like the dribblings of a pissed toddler.
I love hip hop and rap: its great. 90s golden age especially: Ice Cube, Lords of The Underground, Wu-Tang Clan, Gang Starr, Mobb Deep etc etc.
The good thing about music is you don't have to listen to it if you don't like it.
You do have to listen to it....or at least hear it. The BBC use it all the time to advertise things like football ( football fans all must like rap, they think ). People who play loud music in the cars always seem to play this sort of music. When did you ever hear, say, Elgar's Enigma Variations or maybe some Thelonious Monk blasting from a passing car ?

I was playing Coltrane's Blue Train in the car yesterday at a decent volume with the windows down. And yes the BBC seem to be favouring British rap at the moment but only after years of shoving bloody Ed Sheeran and Adele down our throats.
Game of Thrones - I'm so glad that's finally over.
Bake Off - no, F**k Off.
Morecambe and Wise - Never brought me sunshine or laughter.
Abba - I once told a friend in the pub that I never understood the fascination with Abba. Gay guy passing by overheard and said "Well you might as well say that you hate gay people". Really?
Bob Dylan - Sorry Bob but I can criticise what I can't understand and the answer ain't blowing in the wind. The most overrated person in the history of music.

Ties and high heel shoes two of the stupidest inventions. So many people bitch about both but continue to wear/walk in them. Women with a nice bum and legs in tight jeans and long flat heel boots - that's another story.
If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
Pie, mash and liquor. Could there be a blander choice of food? Bland squashed up meat pie, boring mash and that watery parsley sauce shit all served up in a grotty hovel of a place that somehow passes a hygiene test?
Team I worked at used to get it in on birthdys for lunch as a treat. Thought Id partake and see what the fuss it about but as I imagined it was just, well meh...
"Make sure you put lashings of vinegar on it..." Really? If something needs to be smothered in bloody vinegar to taste good then the dish is obviously flawed from the outset. I'd rather have a Greggs for lunch mate.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
Lol. Who could have foreseen that this thread would degenerate in to a load of grumpy old men moaning about 'rap'?
As far as musical form goes, I can't think of anything less inspiring than white boys with guitars, but there you go, each to their own. Late 90s underground UK hip-hop was one of the most vibrant and untainted music scenes of the past 50 years, bursting with ideas and creativity. A high-water mark was the magic-mushroom-fueled 'Great Outdoors' EP imo.

You’re going to get loads of unjustified shit for that White Boy remark.

Same with jellied eels. My ol' Mum loved 'em, but I can't stomach them. However, when in other parts of the country, I pretend I eat them all the time saying “ cor, they're luvverly mate “
