Experienced player - check
Big strong lad - check
Played at a high level - check
Low wages - probably lowish
Low transfer fee - free agent
Lots of recent game time - only 38 games in 3 seasons is a worry

Is he any good - haven’t seen him play for 3/4 seasons, but prior to then was a very underrated player, always had a stormer against us anyway!

Tentative approval on this one. As long as the wages aren’t too high he seems to fit what we need.

Still got his signed shirt from a charity auction. He’d just had a cracking game against ManU.

Isn't he a good few inches short of 6'? Hardly a big man.

5’10” I think. Not tall but quite stocky. Always seemed like he had the strength to hold off defenders, or outmuscle attacking players off the ball.

Soon as we were after him, I figured he'd end up at Stoke.

Our wage offer of £8.99 a week plus £20 as a free bet with betuk.com as a signing on fee wasn’t tempting enough. We did offer a voucher for free van rental with Low Cost Vans as a last ditch attempt but it failed to turn his head.

No ones coming are they:-

Gomez - gone quiet
Mulumbu - gone north
Toivonen - gone south

Either we can only offer the s**test wages imaginable, or we aren’t even trying!

I doubt we're even trying, they are trying to offload Bony as hard as they can.

Can't wait for the new BS statement they all release, and try and tell us that January is a window we'll look at, same bs every time.

I think it is just the press assuming that we must be doing something so making links with players that we would be interested in.
The reality is that they are busy trying to offload players and have no intention of bringing anyone in.
Potter is just a Yes man to Jenkins and co.

Very, very harsh on Potter. I wouldn't advise turning on him, if he goes then we're totally f*cked .

He's been told the same lies as we have no doubt.

Sadly his story has changed several times as ‘we’re working hard on targets’ then it’s clear we’re not signing perm players, then working hard on loans, until it’s clear we’re not signing loan players. Understandable as Jenkins pays his wages but let’s not kid ourselves that Potter is driving the transfers. He’s been dealt a shit hand and is dealing with it professionally. His statements on Dyer, Routledge and Narsignh are bullshit to be honest.

It's even more sadder that already fans are seeing through the managers words and questioning his integrity.
Is he on the slippery slope already?
I hope not. However, you are not the only one to call him out on his replies in press gatherings.

Changed his story from not playing them when the Club tried to get shot, then some soppy crap how they’d be key part of group if they are still here on after loan deadline. So he’s happy we have 1 fit striker, no fit DM but 8 wingers. Like I said I understand why but it’s clear he has to do what’s he’s told. Shame as thought he’s have more bottle but sounds same as all our managers roll out the ‘we’re happy with the squad’ until they are sacked.

In fairness to him he has always added an important caveat; they have to add something to the current squad. Why sign another CB - will block development for Rodon/Harries. Why get another striker in? Bony is coming back and McBurnie is doing well.

Maybe I’m too sceptical after hearing the same thing with so many previous managers that are put in the front media line and told to tow the line and cover Jenkins inadequacies. I’d hoped GP be a more honest about lack of support, but maybe that’s naive on my part. I’ll be glad when all the windows close, so Potter can focus on the squad he’s got whatever the obvious gaps.
