In recent times I've always remembered us finding a way to lose on opening day. Hence the incessant drinking the day we ripped QPR a new one. You must have to go into the 90's to have witnessed anything as good as that in the first game.
Edit: Or even back to the 80's with Curt against Leeds
Cheltenham 3 Swansea City 4 Beautiful day jackforever drove us up in a mini bus. Parked up in a pub just up from the ground, pub full of jacks, beer garden at the side and chippy opposite, happy days. Policed advised us to move the mini bus to the official car park.
Match was fantastic...
After the match the same pub, however, the landlord didn't like that we had gone back to the pub for a pint. He called the police, but they came spoke to him and they told the landlord where to go. You can't have the penny and the bun.

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Thanks for that, for years I've been trying to find and remember a certain match where we were 3-2 down at half time but thought I'd just dreamt the whole thing up.

No worries

Great to see that again after all this time. That was definitely a great day out but I don't think that was the opening day was it? Hadn't we already beaten someone 4-2 at home (Bury maybe?) with Brad Maylett scoring a hattrick or have I imagined that?

Opening away fixture! First away game of the season, so it can be sneaked in.

Yeah, Bury was the first game of the season.
4-3 vs. Cheltneham, Trundle hattrick 4-2 vs. Bury, Maylett hattrick 4-2 vs. Hull (last game of previous season), Thomas hattrick
Wonder how many times that's happened before?

Those are unbelievable statistics, they would make a great quiz question.

I f'ing hate Bobby Gould, didn't realise he was the manager that day. That was the first season I'd started following the Swans properly

We were battered by Bristol City between the Bury and Cheltenham game
They scored 3 goals in extra time after Maylett got sent off. Battered we were not. Leon got a standing ovation off the Bristol fans when he was subbed.
