Leicester v QPR Betting Preview

The boys return to cast their eyes over QPR’s impressive form and hunt for value elsewhere in the weekend sporting markets.

Big losses all round last week with Brian doing £47.25 and Andy the full £50 to leave the running totals both in the red. Andy is down £23 overall, Brian £98.

Upon reviewing our first eight games of the season with the fixtures cam out our trip to Leicester looked a tricky fixture alongside the Boro, Sheffield and Ipswich games. Well nine points, nine goals scored and three clean sheets later we should be confident of getting a win at the Walkers. The Foxes beat media darlings Cardiff in midweek and with Sousa in charge will be organised at the back, but I think we can get the win but it will be tight my bet is to go with Heidar for first scorer.

Last week I tipped Wolves to win at Fulham last week and I think they could get the win at Spurs. There is a trend for teams playing in Europe to slip up the following weekend and the 13-2 on offer is worth a punt.

The Ayr Gold Cup is the big race this weekend and David Nicholls has a good record in this winning it several times. A high draw is an advantage and putting those together points to 16-1 shot Redford and with Frankie Dettori on board it will be popular. In the Silver cup Richard Faheys Irish Heartbeat also takes my eye with a high draw and early price of 11-1.

Finally I will go for my normal acca on the football including Stoke at a standout 11/10 to beat West Ham.

For the Weekend:

£10 Helguson 1st scorer 13-2

£7.50 singles and £2.50 ew double

Redford 16-1 Ayr Gold Cup

Irish Heartbeat 11-1 Ayr Silver Cup

Birmingham 21-10

Peterborough 5-4

Rotherham 13-10

£10 single

Wolves 15-2 to beat Spurs

Well, my last two weeks have been absolute busts, and it’s only the fact that I had a couple of good wins early on that’s keeping my head above water. Now, at this stage, any fully addicted gambler worth their salt with no self control would immediately do what’s known as “chasing his losses” – that is go hard in an attempt to claw back losses – the same as going “on tilt” in Poker. The other way is to take a deep breath back away for a bit and analyse where you’ve been going wrong.

Where I’ve mostly been going wrong has been underestimating how good QPR have been, instead being a good pessimistic QPR fan, expecting the worst. This has been losing me on average £20 a week when we’ve beaten what I would consider “good” opposition (not even I was pessimistic enough to back against QPR for the Barnsley and Scunny games…) now I mentioned last week I would happily lose £20 every week if it meant that QPR won, and in the “real world” I maintain that is the case – but the purpose of a betting column is to make money, so I need to rethink my strategy.

So, here we go, I’m backing QPR to beat Leicester, available at a pretty nice 2/1 from most bookies. And on top of that Mackie is available to score anytime at 5/2 on Bet365 – seems quite long odds for someone who’s scored 6 in 6 (the bookies are STILL think Hulse will score at anytime @ 2/1.) Buzsaky is also available at 5/1 to score anytime – and he seemed to be fit and firing in the Ipswich match, and should start on Saturday.

So in the interests of frugality and trying to recoup some losses, It’s only QPR and the accumulator for me this week, and I’m going to attempt another loss preventing scheme, by laying lots of results: - Glasgow Rangers, Spurs and AC Milan to win, and West Ham, Bolton and Portsmouth to NOT win. Those six results are worth 5/1…

For the Weekend:

QPR v Leicester - QPR to win - £10 @ 2/1 (Betfair)

QPR v Leicester - Mackie to score at anytime - £5 @ 5/2 (Bet365)

QPR v Leicester – Buzsaky to score at anytime - £5 @ 5/1 (William Hill)

Sixfold accumulator – Rangers, Spurs, AC Milan, NOT West Ham, NOT Bolton, NOT Portsmouth - £10 @ 5/1 (Betfair)
