Pompey skipper aims to take play-off fight to final weekend
Thursday, 29th Apr 2021 21:27 by pompey-fans.com staff

Let's make sure we take the play-off race to the final weekend. That's skipper Tom Naylor's view as Pompey head to south London for a clash with AFC Wimbledon they really need to win.

With the Blues battling with Oxford and Charlton for one spot - or if you prefer, Oxford, Charlton and Blackpool for two - all Danny Cowley's men can do is win, then see what other results have done to the table.

And that's what the squad will be focused on at AFC Wimbledon's new stadium, says Naylor.

He told the club website: 'It’s a huge game and we’re looking to win it, then hope it’s still in our hands the following weekend. We need to pick up six points and hope that Charlton drop some — hopefully that’s exactly what will happen.

'It’s an exciting time for the club because these are the matches that are going to make or break your season. All the players want to be involved in them and we’ll do everything we can to get into the play-offs and have a chance of securing promotion.

'But AFC Wimbledon have picked up some good form of late and are going to be really difficult opponents. It’s a new stadium for me to visit, so I’m looking forward to playing there and trying to collect all three points.'
