Pompey boss: We have a lot of respect for Wigan Sunday, 4th Apr 2021 21:07 by pompey-fans.com staff Danny Cowley takes Pompey to Wigan on Easter Monday admitting he has a lot of respect for a team he thinks have been unlucky of late. The Latics are near the wrong end of the League One table but Cowley says they must not be taken lightly as the Blues look for a fourth straight victory under their new head coach. Cowley said Friday's victory over Rochdale was in the past although the players had not had long to recover from it. He told the Pompey website: 'We recovered well on Friday and the players had an extra hour in bed on Saturday before working towards facing Wigan. You have to draw a line under the Rochdale game after reviewing it and then make use of the fantastic facilities at the training ground to aid their recovery. 'Nicky and I watched Wigan earlier in the week and they were very unlucky to be beaten by Gillingham. They had better control of the match and more of the chances, but got caught by a sucker punch towards the end. 'That happens when you’re down near the bottom, but we’ve got a lot of respect for Wigan and will look forward to going there. We’ll try to produce another positive performance on Monday to hopefully get the result we all want to see.'
