League One clash a whole new ball game for Pompey and Posh Friday, 1st Sep 2023 20:12 by Pompey-fans.com staff Forget Pompey's League Cup defeat to Peterborough in the week - it has no bearing on this weekend's League One clash between the clubs. And John Mousinho insists he'd be saying the same even if the Blues had defeated Posh on Tuesday night instead of losing on penalties. It's 7th v 10th at Fratton on Saturday and the starting line-ups are not likely to bear too much resemblance to those seen on Tuesday. Mousinho told the PFC website: 'If we’d have won on Tuesday, then we’d be repeating exactly the same thing about it being a completely different game. You just have to dust yourselves down and be ready to go again and Peterborough will probably make 10, if not 11, changes. 'Playing a league match at a packed Fratton Park at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon is a totally different kettle of fish. The cup tie won’t have a huge bearing on what happens, so we bank that disappointment and be ready to move on. 'No game against League One opposition is easy and there are a lot of sides that are really pushing this season. It seems to be a much more level playing field and the key for us is to be at it week in, week out, so we’re just focused on the next game.' Mousinho revealed winger Anthony Scully would be missing as he waits to learn the extent of a knee injury. The manager has to weigh up whether to pitch new loan signing Tino Anjorin straight into the starting line-up.
