Matt Macey on the vital moment that made his Pompey debut a success Thursday, 26th Jan 2023 20:40 by Pompey-fans.com staff Matt Macey could hardly have had a better start to life between the Pompey sticks - but he knows it is important for the team to carry the form of their past two games into more upcoming matches. The Blues head to Peterborough on Saturday on the back of two consecutive 2-0 wins - at home to Exeter and away to Fleetwood - under new head coach John Mousinho. Macey has played a huge part in what so far has been a mini-revival with two clean sheets but told the club website there was more hard work and stiff tests ahead. He said: 'It’s always good to win games and keep clean sheets. We backed it up on Tuesday and hopefully we can go again. I’m looking to get into a rhythm of playing football again and so having three matches in a week is definitely helpful. 'It’s a realistic part of being a goalkeeper that you might have long periods out of the team and then be needed again. You just have to be ready and it just so happened that my first touch on my debut was a save rather than anything basic. 'There was then a really solid defensive performance on Tuesday night and despite going down to 10, it didn’t feel like we were under the cosh. It’s going to be a tough job to go to Peterborough and make it three from three, but there’s confidence in the group right now.'
