Fulham After Harrison Reed Thursday, 8th Aug 2019 11:22 Fulham are reported as being in line to sign Harrison Reed on a deadline day deal according to the media.
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from several Championship clubs including Blackburn with whom he spent last season on loan, but Fulham are currently leading the chase to sign him, with Scott Parker keen to strengthen his midfield options before the transfer deadline.
Reed is a very good player at Championship level and he’s got plenty of experience in that division having spent the past two seasons on loan firstly at Norwich and then at Blackburn.
A popular player amongst Saints supporters despite having played relatively few games for the club, he probably isn’t going to get much of a chance for Saints in the Premier League this season if he stayed, so now might finally be the time for him to leave St Mary’s on a permanent deal.
Fulham would be a good fit for him in that being one of the promotion favourites he could make a swift return to the Premier league, although it has been almost 2 1/2 years since his last appearance in a Saints shirt and with only 6 starts and another 11 as sub during his time at the club it is probably fair to say he is not going to make the breakthrough at St Mary's and needs to move.

This sounds like a great opportunity for HR and hopefully a deal can be done. Sadly he's not at the level to break into the Saints first team but could do very well at Fulham and take his career forward. Good luck to him I wish him nothing but success.

Is that what the summer clean up plan was about? Offloading all our academy? Reed has grown matured in the last two seasons in the Championship. He is now like a hot iron that Ralph can mold into any form; perhaps into6 a Diego Demme style. My feeling at the moment is that the club isnt capable of doing anything right. They havent moved on WHoedt, Carillo, Stephens, Forster, Lemina, but have been busy Loaning out Sims, now may be Reed, cant even convince Danny Rohl to stay despite the tremendous job he did on video analysis for Ralph. Ralph already looks worn out with this still bloated squad.

So lets get this right, Harrison Reed will turn 25 in a few months time, since making his debut in the Premier League almost 6 years ago, he has played under 6 Saints managers, he has started only 6 League games for Saints plus 11 as sub (many of them as 89th minute sub) the last of them 2 1/2 years ago, if he was going to make it in the Premier League at the club he would have done so long before now. Nothing against him other than he isnt as good as at least six players ahead of him in the pecking order. Sims is in a similar situation (4 starts 16 as sub) other than he being only 22 probably has another season to prove himself You say the club isnt doing anything right, whilst it is not good that they havent moved on any of these players, it hasn't been for the lack of trying though and some could well go before the end of the month. The transfer business they have done so far this summer has been good, so whhatever happens we have a better squad than last season so should be fine. Lets not start moaning till we have good reason to, remember the summers of 14, 15 & 16 oh how people moaned yet now it is seen as a golden period.

I agree with what you say about Reed, it's a shame that he hasnt made the jump up to this level, but plenty of managers have had a look at him now and for whatever reason they don't feel its worth playing him. However... "The transfer business they have done so far this summer has been good, so whhatever happens we have a better squad than last season so should be fine. " I would agree...IF we had signed a centre back. A proper, quality, proven centre back. This has been our biggest problem since Fonte left and VVD got injured, and it doesnt matter how much we tweak our forward options if the team still has no faith, feeling that even after going a goal or two up we still cant count on a win. I hope the Ralph effect is enough to transform us back in to europa league hopefuls, but I really cant believe that we are about to finish our third summer since losing Fonte/VVD and we still havent got in that solid, physical, leader in central defence that we so desperately need.

BathSaint....Kevin Danso age 20 with only 20 club appearances...solid, physical leader? Or another one for the future?

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Portsmouth Polls |
