Pompey can be award winners again Thursday, 30th Jan 2014 22:31 by pompey-fans.com staff Pompey are in the running for two honours in the 2014 Football League Awards. They will vie with Brentford, Derby, Doncaster and Morecambe for the Johnstone’s Paint Community Club of the Year national prize after winning the south-west prize. Meanwhile, young defender Jack Whatmough has been nominated in the LFE Apprentice of the Year (League Two) award category with Hartlepool’s Bradley Walker and Plymouth’s Ben Purrington. The winners will be announced in London on Sunday, March 16. Pompey in the Community chief executive Clare Martin told the club website: 'We were nominated because of the PUP programme — a matchday programme that is designed and produced by kids, for kids and sold before every home game.' Pompey academy manager Andy Awford said: 'The Apprentice of the Year category is not just about football — although obviously playing for the first team and taking part in an England training camp have helped Jack’s cause.' The club were named Family Club of the Year prizewinners at the 2012 Football League Awards. Can Pompey make it back-to-back wins with three points against Torquay on Saturday?
