First impressions - I like him. Near Impossible task to keep us up this season. For me, he has a Free Hit. Get as many points as he can, and take us from there. He Talks the Talk, now he needs to Walk it. There is no doubt in my mind that RM squandered the chance to re establish us as a Premier League Team, and I'm personally glad to see the back of him. Let's see how Ivan pans out. Feeling a lot more positive than I was a couple of weeks ago. Good Luck Ivan, hope it works out. UTS |

At last, the intentions of SR are becoming ever clearer. They will retain RM, and oversee our Relegation to The Championship with a whimper. They will then assess our financial situation, and sell our top players to clear the possibility of us infringing Financial Fair Play. For them, and some of our deluded Supporters, they will hope, (expect RM ), to bring us back up again. What deluded Incompetents SR are. RM, playing his way in The Championship, BLEW automatic Promotion, and we luckily scraped through in The Play Off final, ( Yes it was a fantastic, memorable day, but we knew, given what had happened to Burnley, that playing his way in The Premier League would never work, and we would end up in the situation we are now in.) Shortsighted thinking by SR, to allow us to be relegated without a fight, as next Season sees the commencement of the new Sky Contract, which will bring even bigger riches to Premier League Clubs. Sadly, we won't be amongst them. RM has been 'found out'', and he will not be able to get our depleted squad back into The Premier League. We face seasons in The EFL, ( that is if The EFL don't kick us whilst we're down and impose points penalties for daring to aspire to get into The Premier League.) This Relegation will be the second in the three years under SR. We'll be scrapping in the lower leagues for a few years to come. This is so unnecessary. We have a proud history of membership to The Premier League, ( this is our 26th Season in the Premier league, and in that time we have been contributors to it's success ) With SR in charge, I fear it will be years before we return. My first Saints Game was in 1960, as an 8yrs old, on the ONLY occasion we actually won our Division, Division 3. I want My/Our Club to always do well, and over the years, by and large, it's provided Me with great memories. It's terribly sad today, to see us wasting an Opportunity to establish ourselves, once again, as a valuable Premier League contributor, and seemingly accept the inevitable Relegation. We are better than this, but it's the hoping that we'll change our circumstances, that's finally getting to me. I wish My/Our Club all the very best for the remainder of this season, and succeeding seasons. Once a Saint, always a Saint. |

According to Sky Soccer Special, he's off to Leicester. Leicester haven't hung around. Cooper out and replaced within a week. I wonder if SR have someone lined up to replace RM ? No, didn't think so. Our Relegation will be almost confirmed after the games v Brighton, Chelsea, Villa and Spurs. Arry Redcrap took us down in 2004-2005, having joined us after 16 Games when we had 16pts. We're likely to have just 4pts at the same stage |

Don't think he wants to be here. Getting fit and playing with the U21 Squad is apparently 'beneath' him, isn't it. Don't know how long we've got left to have him 'hanging' around taking his monthly pay check. He's stealing a living at the moment. Try again to get rid in January. Takers might be hard to find though. |
| Forum Reply | Will Saints Be Cast Adrift At The Bottom Before They Kick A Ball This Weekend at 14:24 23 Nov 2024
Probably. It's academic anyway. The Owners have clearly decided to stick with RM, signalling that they are accepting our inevitable Relegation. We have reached the stage, after 12 Games, ( it will be after tomorrow ), where it will be increasingly impossible to accrue enough points to ensure a 17th Place finish. SR have not been a successful Owner. Relegated OUR Club in their First Season in charge, and almost certainly Relegated US again in their Third Season. |

Agree whole heartedly. He brought so many experienced Players to the Club. Mixed them with our own home grown talent. The football was enjoyable to watch. Finished Runners Up in Division 1, behind the great Liverpool teams. Often played in the minor European Competitions. Two major Cup Finals at Wembley, FA Cup, and League Cup. Blot on his copybook, He took us Down to the 2nd Division in his first Season. We forgive him, as he brought us our One and Only Major Trophy, The FA Cup in 1976. I hope he enjoyed his 88th Birthday. A True Southampton Football Club Legend.. Thanks for everything Lawrie❤️ |

1885 SFC's post encapsulates RM's way of thinking. He is not going to change, and that is the problem. Getting us promoted last season was wonderfully unexpected. If he manages to keep us in The Premier League, it will be a miracle. We will definitely do a 'Burnley' if he remains inflexible. Look at Bournemouth yesterday, 2-0 down on 87 minutes, they fight back to win 3-2. Can you honestly see RM getting that kind of performance from our squad ? Yeh, me neither. We now have new additions to the squad that are better players than we have. RM was slow to use them yesterday. I would like to see this Team given a run of games, to turn our Season back on track. Ramsdale, Sugwara, ABK, Bednarek, KWP, in Defence. Ugochuk, Downes, Fernandes in midfield, and Dibling, Cornet, and Archer as the front three. That side, playing with an attacking intent, would be good enough to give us a Top 17 finish this season. That's all I'm expecting us to achieve this season. IF we do get relegated, you can bet your bottom dollar that The EFL Stassi will be gunning for us next season. Our next 6 League Fixtures are more difficult than our last 3 - Man Utd., Ipswich, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Leicester, and Man City. Play as we are, where are we getting points from that lot ? Yes, I know it's early days into this season, but the pathway that RM seems determined to follow, doesn't look too secure. To get the 'magical' 40pts, we only need to Win 10-12 games, and draw 4-8. This means we could still lose up to a total of 22 games, and still stay up. At least RM is on target for that scenario . |

For some reason Arsenal seem to be hanging on as late as possible to sign this deal off. They've agreed a loan for a Bournemouth goalkeeper. Perhaps they're waiting until all the i's are dotted. Frustrating for us. Just announce Ramsdale now. |

Just because a rare event occurred, such as ALL 3 of the promoted sides in 22=23 being relegated in 23=24, the 'bozos' in the Media are all touting for the three promoted clubs to be relegated this season too. It isn't going to happen again so soon. We will finish no lower than 17th. That'll do for me. Saturdays performance was excellent. The goal just before half time took the wind out our sails for a moment We have an opportunity to kick start our season v Forest on Saturday. just get some goals and wins under our belts. we'll be ok. |
| Forum Reply | That Great Friday Feeling, moving on to Sunday at 19:31 25 May 2024
I had a feeling Utd. would beat City. They've been partying all week. Going on about 4 League Wins in a Row. In truth they couldn't give a stuff about that. They are still smarting at being knocked out of The European Cup, unlukilly, by R Madrid. Going in as favourites today, they never got started. Just as Leeds are still smarting at not making the Top 2. Hopefully an omen for us. Let's hope that Leeds believe all of the noise surrounding this Game, and finding themselves in for a shock when we outplay them. If Che is fit, he should start. As game progresses, if RM feels the need to change, he uses only those used on Friday, plus Ross Stewart, ( If Ross is fit, he must be brought on at some stage ) Impressed with RM's talk during the build up. I'm quietly confident we'll Win. Make as much noise throughout the Game, as on Friday. Sing the Team Home COYRS |
| Forum Thread | That Great Friday Feeling, moving on to Sunday at 18:43 23 May 2024
Friday Night was amazing from both the Team, and supporters. The whole Club was lifted into a Magic Performance. It will be difficult to replicate that within the confines of Wembley. The performances from the Team were all 7-10. Talk is that Che Adams will be back for Sunday, or is that just spin from RM. McCarthy, KWP, Stephens, Downes, THB,Smallbone, Aribo, Armstrong, Brooks, Frazer, were all magnificent. Subs, Rothwell, Charles, Edozie, and particularly Manning made a difference when coming on. To listen to all the pundits, they've got Leeds to Win. One, Danny Mills actually said " Leeds have got to be a Premier League side" WHY ? Leeds have only been in The Premier League 13 Seasons since 1992, whereas we've been in The Premier League 24 Seasons since 1992. I no longer listen to or read the crap from Leeds backers. Leeds will be a more difficult game, and they possess some good goal scorers. ( So Do We ), Prone to diving as if shot, if touched by an opponent, but hopefully VAR will sort them out. I genuinely believe that if we can shut out the Leeds noise, just concentrate on our Game, we can do this. Team Selection is straight forward. Our Team will improve with Che Adams back on. I fear for "Sicknote", Ross Stewart, but if we can get him on, it could change things up. If Macca and the defence stand their ground, and Che and Ross don't play RM MUST Start with Friday's line up. As the game progresses, DO NOT bring on Bree, Mara, or Sulemana, as they will add NOTHING to The Team. It's our ONE Shot at getting Promotion. Let's do this. |
| Forum Reply | Should Russell Martin Put Out Another Reserve Side For Leeds United Trip at 15:16 1 May 2024
We should put out a complete reserve side, with no first team players if possible. For us, the game, as was the game against Stoke, is totally irrelevant. As for Leeds, they have a miniscule chance of making 2nd Place. For that to happen, Ipswich must LOSE to Huddersfield, and Leeds beat us, going 2nd on goal difference above Ipswich. That ain't going to happen, but Farke must put out a strong side on the slim off chance that Ipswich lose. We owe nothing to anybody or any League. We must protect our First Team Players. { It would be a shame should any Leeds first team player pick up an injury, in their futile attempt to finish 2nd } As for our First Team, it must be as follows. Macca, KWP at Right Back, THB, and Jan Centre halves, with Manning at Left Back. ( He's Hobsons Choice, but was successful in the 25 game unbeaten run } I would pick Captain Jack, alongside Downes, as two to play in front of our back 4, to prevent attackers getting through, and cover any gaps created during the game. Two Midfield to be Joe Aribo, and Ryan Fraser. Arma could also drop back to make a strong attacking midfield. Up front, if the 'injured' Ross is still not fit, then Che Adams up front. Very able Subs to bring on if necessary, Rothwell, Brooks, Charles, and Smallbones, and possibly Edozie. These Players will WIN us The Play Offs. The problem is RM's Game Management. How many times has he subbed, and made our capabilities worse ? These Play Off Games are different to anything most of our squad will have gone through. RM's experience of winning The Play offs should stand us in good stead. These Games are 'Do or Die'. It's no good coming off at the end saying "But we had 60-70 % possession". Tippy Tappy, and Possession football means 'Rock All', if the other team has scored 5 Goals. The Players I've listed will win us the Play Offs. Now, as to our Opponents. 5th At the moment it's Norwich, a very dangerous Opponent. I;ve a sneaky that Birmingham will have a right go at beating them, to avoid relegation. In their efforts, the game could be drawn, leaving Norwich on 73 or74 Pts. WBA are at home to Preston, who went to the Beach weeks ago. I expect WBA to beat them and finish 5th with 75pts. Let's hope so anyway. Just keep our First Teamers Fit and Injury Free, and we'll do this In the meantime 'May 4th be with you' and have a happy May 26th |
