Watching Hearts this afternoon, it was good to see Frankie playing so confidently and assured. Didn't put a foot wrong as far as I could see. And great to see Frankie scored the winner in time added on. I know Spartans are not nearly as good as Hearts, but you can only perform against the team in front of you. In fact Spartan's veteran goalie, Carswell, played a blinder, and was rightly awarded "Man of the Match", even though he was on the losing side. Well Done Frankie! Up the U's (and Hearts of course) |

You're right, Gerry. I don't think that The Repair Shop could help me much. |

Wayne Rooney is now out of a job. We probably couldn't afford him, and would we want him anyway? Up the U's |

Gerry, you and I and Burnsie form a bit of a long-term trio. 69 years for me. My Mum often reminded me that I once said (must have been in my early teens) that I don't care how bad the U's get, I will always support them. Oh, how they have tried me down the years! But never so much as now. Stick with it, Guys. Up the U's. |

Good luck Fifespud. I've been a U's supporter since 1954, but I spent 15 years in Glasgow, but supported Hearts, an Edinburgh side (don't ask). My abiding memory of Dens Park is January 1986 when we stood at the eastern end, in an open terrace behind the goal, with an icy wind howling down the River Tay. My word, it was damn cold, and The Dee won 1-0. But not all was misery that day. On the way back to our car, a fellow passenger nipped to a local shop and bought freshly baked Forfar bridies for us. Absolute heaven! But The Dee still undid us. On the final day of the 85/85 season, all Hearts needed was a draw, away to Dundee, to lift the championship. But your George Kidd decided otherwise, and two late goals cost us the title, and the following week, Aberdeen, then managed by Alex Ferguson, cost us the Cup trophy as well. Who'd be a football supporter? Anyway, good luck to The Dee, and Up the U's. |

Agree 100% RS. No point in having local rivals if we can't play against them. In the meantime, it may be a long shot, but let's hope the U's get promoted so we play against the other lot over the River Stour. Up the U's. |

You make some good points TS. Perhaps an experienced manager would start off by getting the players to introduce themselves to each other. |

7th December 1996, FA Cup Round 2, Sudbury Town v Brentford was played at Layer Road. I don't know, but presumably Sudbury Town' ground didn't meet FA standards (just guessing). Brentford won 3-1. Up The U's. |

Good news Burnsie. Ditto from me to Wessex's remarks. |

I've no problem with Portsmouth, GOSBTS. Before we married, my wife to be was stationed there for two years in the Wrens. It may amuse you to know, that when she left the Wrens to marry me, we had to get an extra marriage certificate to send to the Royal Navy to prove that she wasn't a deserter. So, it cost me 15/- to marry her instead of 7/6d. |

Apologies, Gerry, if you felt insulted. I prefer to think of you as mature, like a fine wine. Up the Colchester Football team! |

You could be right, Burnsie, although Wikipedia (the fount of all knowledge) doesn't mention financial difficulties, but, no matter. I wouldn't want the U's to change their name either. Up the U's. |
