Mad stats, mental fragility & medical issues add up to midtable for Stoke - Interview
at 10:29:46

£57k blimey! That's probably worth six of our better players salaries!!!! No wonder we can't compete on wages and so many players we're after end up playing for other teams.

Willock brilliance brings QPR home on the road again - Report
at 06:55:30

Field was not a passenger. Apart from starting the move that led to our goal, he also won 7/9 ground duels and 5/6 aerial duels as well as 2 clearances, 1 blocked shot, 3 interceptions and 5 tackles. That's pretty good when the top average number of tackles in the Championship is Ben Shaef from Coventry with 3.1 tackles per match.

Lyndon was quieter than usual but still won two tackles and made a clearance and won 7/11 aerial duels. In fairness he didn't have anyone passing to him in the box despite being in a decent position at least once (when Stefan elected to shoot rather than pass and shot straight at the keeper).

QPR continue to state intent, adding Gray to attack - Signing

Hell I know it's a hard one. But I tend to favour rehabilitation rather than eternal punishment, especially for something said when they were young (extreme violence and sexual offences are much harder). The language used was extremely inflammatory and offensive obviously. But then I wasn't surrounded by other people who used that kind of language at that age, so I wouldn't have dreamed of using it myself. I did, however, have some reactionary views probably influenced by the people around me, that seem almost to belong to a completely different person.

When we have a PM who acceded to the job after calling gay men tanked topped b*m boys, while in his thirties, it seems reasonable to give someone who was in his early twenties some slack to play football.

I'd want to give him a chance for a fresh start, but I think he'll be a short leash, from both the management and the fans.

He's not 21 any more and we expect a lot higher standard from him now; who you are has become a really important aspect for those playing for us as much as how you play.

I really hope for all our sakes that it comes off.

Enjoy these round ups. Hopefully you'll continue next season.

Agree with all of your points.

Overall it's been a cracking season. If only we'd been there to witness it in person. Roll on the start of next season.

Strikers misfire as Austin watches on - Report

I agree the ref was excellent. Credit where credit's due. Makes such a difference when you don't have to feel disgruntled by rubbish refereeing.

I also agree that centre midfield is a big issue. Now we've got Charlie in I hope they'll focus on getting one box to box midfielder and at least one fullback.

Kelman adds to striking options - Signing

Nice write up. Re the Eze fee, I also think we were quite clever with our finances last season. We took a calculated gamble that we weren't getting promoted or even into the play offs as our squad was just a bit too thin, even with the riches of Eze and Bright. Nor were we going to flirt with relegation because by January we already looked safe.

So we didn't replace Nahki Wells and we sent Leistner out on loan, largely taking him off the wage bill. They were almost definitely two of our biggest wage earners. We also let go of Smith and Mlakar and sold Scowen, possibly for a smallish fee. The only person we signed in Jan was Jack Clarke. So I reckon a decent saving there which they may not have budgeted for at the beginning of that season to carry over into this season. Even though we've obviously lost a lot of our income through lockdown, we're probably in better shape than other clubs.

Willock added to QPR’s attacking rack and stack — Signing
at 00:54:12

I agree with Oz. I think we haven't had enough pace and penetration apart from BOS and as you say he's been doubled up on, which means that teams can push up the field against us. With more pace in the team, we're more dangerous and the fullbacks may have to sit back more, putting less pressure on our defence.

I also think we'll be better after a few more matches with Dieng, and Barbet and Dickie developing more of an understanding. Also I'd like to see Ball play instead of Cameron in defensive mid for a couple of matches. We're lacking a bit of that last ditch defending and I think he might be more suited to it.

Brilliant article. Blending trenchant criticism of our uninspiring, hypocritical and self serving government and a lament for the loss of live attendance at our beautiful game.

It's difficult not to be depressed. I honestly have more faith in my mates to run the country than our cabinet.

Profligate QPR punished by Sarr's sickener - Report
at 01:41:16

He's got a bit of a problem Marshy on the right side if he is hoping Kane will create when BOS isn't playing: he hasn't got one assist and only created two big chances compared to Manning's three assists, one goal and seven big chances created, admittedly in less minutes played, 17 rather than 23 matches and not all of those from the start. But still you'd expect at least one assist or more chances created across that many matches, especially as we've been allowing our fullbacks to push up quite a bit.

I agree he's still experimenting. Also I think he's trying to rotate our squad and protect our younger players a bit. But our squad is looking a bit thin when we play our next tier down players at times. Mlakar and Matt Smith really haven't looked good enough and Rangel obviously has the skill but makes our back line very slow, which is why he might not want to play him and Cameron in the same team.

Hoos brands UEFA, FIFA “complicit, liars” in racism row — Fans Forum
at 19:02:32

Fantastic report Clive. So interesting that it clears up so many of the points that people endlessly and often mistakenly complain about. We can only hope the Keyboard Warrior Twitter Board read it and take it on board.

I love the fact that our senior leadership team no longer make me cringe with ridiculous statements, as we've experienced in the past. Love the fact we're being pragmatic, building for the future, learning from past mistakes. For example, the point that we no longer intend to sign bad eggs. They might start with a bang, but they invariably end with a whimper- Wright-Phillips, JET and Caulker being obvious examples.

They share many of my concerns, for example, the farce of EPPP, which I believe is a strong contributor to the financial issues for Championship clubs: not only is it harder to sell to Premier Clubs to keep afloat, but they are actually having to lease back these players at premium costs. I love LH passion about racism. So impressive to defend his young players.

A great read.

Adventures on the high seas - Preview

Telecoms companies have worked out a fantastic system of all being useless at varying degrees at different times with hopeless outsourced call centre 'support' systems. It works brilliantly, as there's generally no point in switching between them as the others are equally crap. Sky were so hopeless when I tried to upgrade to Sky q, sending an engineer who was so rubbish that he told me my system wouldn't support Sky q and then reconnected my old HD box so it wouldn't record anything. I haven't been able to face getting anyone else round, having lost all faith in them.

I think we're all feeling a bit battered and bruised after starting so well and having a bit of a setback. November is going to be a tough month with some difficult fixtures but I think everything will turn around over the Christmas period, and maybe we'll get a couple of players to shore up the defence in January, maybe on loan and we'll finish strongly.

A Hull of a day for Eze as QPR win away again — Report
at 20:39:52

Yes and we've got some tough games coming up in November so it's good to have these points in the bank: Leeds, Fulham and Derby away and Forest and Middlesbrough at home. We should be getting points against Derby and Middlesbrough but the others are likely to be tough. Leeds will probably close down all the space and stop our creative guys playing. Hopefully Forest will play as badly as they did against Wigan today.

Thanks for the report Clive. It's enjoyable this season to read your reports without having to read between my fingers.
