Traffic Warning….
at 16:05 21 Nov 2024

The labour run councils of Hammersmith and Hounslow have created this mess - Chiswick High Road into Hammersmith Broadway is a massive council created bottleneck!

Only since the installation of the cycle route and removal of bus lanes I have started driving down Rivercourt Road. On the way home its now been so bad even getting to Rivercourt Road on the way home I have started going down Glenthorne Road and round the Hammersmith one way to go back on the A4 towards the A316 adding 4 miles or so to my journey. So much for the environment.

I am lucky enough to have a managed condo outside Fort Myers - Nearly finished the rebuild after Hurricane Ian, then we had 6ft storm surge with Hurricane Helene last week and now Milton will cause a lot of damage tomorrow.

I have a mate who lives permanently in St Pete and he said last night he is staying put ! I do hope everyone is OK and keeps safe.

Nearest pub to where you live

So the BIG question is are any of them a "flat roofed pub"

Flat roofed pubs.. by Pommyhoop 29 Apr 2014 13:43
As mentioned by Konk in the Morhinio thread. Flat roofed pubs are normally shiteholes which are suited to and are normally frequented by a good few Scum supporters. Here's my offering as one of the roughest ,worst boozers I've ever been in .
The Beaver in Beaver's Estate Hounslow .Now that was a REAL shithole!!
Looks like its closed down.Thank F@ck...

I thought he was hopeless - he was in front of me in the second half on the left - Dunne had him covered and he had the first touch of a baby elephant! I think they swapped him over as he was going nowhere fast on the left. Oh and he looks like Paul Calf!

Who is your Non-League side?
at 16:24 20 Mar 2024

The mighty Hampton & Richmond Borough - flying this year under new management after a shaky start and now in 4th in National League South.

They have an ex-QPR player currently Issac Pitlabo who is doing well.

They also have had a number of ex-QPR players either loaned to or played early in their Non-League Career. Leroy Griffiths was signed from them. Seny Dieng was on loan for a year and had a stellar season 2 years before he hit the first team at LR and Jamal Lowe was "discovered" by Portsmouth playing for Hampton.

Up the Beavers!

Stan Bowles
at 12:19 25 Feb 2024

My first footballing hero and great memories of his playing days.

The best Stan story came from Dave Webb who said that Stan turned up for training a bit disheveled but trained hard (ish). Back in the dressing room after Stan asks if he could borrow 50p for the bus back to Brentford where he was living. Dave gives him 50p. They all go outside to the car park and there waiting is Dave Webb's wife and young daughter. Stan goes up and says hi - gives the daughter something and wanders off. Dave gets in the car and says to his daughter, what did Stan give you - she replied..... 50p.

My personal story was in the mid 90's I got invited to a sponsors/players forum at LR. Due to traffic I was about 10 minutes late. But as I arrive who is also late and meant to be on the panel.... Stan. In we go to bar and he lets me order first and of course how could I not buy the great man a drink. "What do you fancy Stan" - "oh thanks mate i'll have a Kronenbourg......... and a large Smirnoff.....but not in the same glass"". Now, I would with anyone else turn round and say don't take the pi55, but it was Stan and I just laughed and clinked glasses!

Finally - my cat is called Stanley, and its perfect for him - wanders around the place, can be a bit lazy, breaks all the rules off the house, sleeps a lot of the day but spends most evenings out and about. But puts a smile on everyone's face in the house when he enters the room.

Rest In Peace Stan - god bless

Transfer deadline day

I think that as he is now a free agent he didn't have to sign within the window. Makes sense that he probably has or will sign a pre-contract agreement with us subject to medical, contract terms, international clearance etc etc. This takes time and as Hayden and Hodge probably took all our time yesterday Andersen will be announced in the coming days.

Electric cars again
at 16:04 30 Dec 2023

Had an electric car for over 2 years - quiet, clean, quick . We have a Pod Point 7KW charger on the side of the house. Charges over night. When we go longer distance I have started using newer Shell Garages as they have 35KW chargers and going from 20% to 80% (over 80% to 100% charge is slower) is about 30 min. Its cheaper to charge from home (avarage half price of public charging). It costs me still about £15 for 200 miles at home. However, with all that said - without a charger at home I would not go electric.

Our corners?
at 13:31 27 Dec 2023

Under Venables we did the massed ranks outside of the box and all rush into the box in different directions and in the ensuing chaos invariably scored.

Now we just put Jimmy Dunne and or Sam Field on the keeper wait for the ref to have a word then as soon as the ball is delivered the ref blows for a foul! Inept and frustrating in equal measure!
