We are in this League BECAUSE of managers like Stockdale, BBM, not despite of them. It isn't McNulty's fault we are here.
He has a decent squad of players - not the best - and like all teams at times, form has deserted them at the moment. A few additions and tweaks and we can get where we need to be.
Sacking anyone must always be a last resort. I'm not sure we've got to that point yet, but as ever, it's a results based business and the owners will decide when and whether to pull the trigger.
There was a bit of disharmony in the air yesterday amongst the players, as if some ill-feeling had crept in from somewhere. I hope it doesn't fester and whoever feels their feathers have been ruffled can put it aside and get on with the job in hand.
On to Tuesday. We are still in with a shout of something meaningful, so it's see how we go about it. |

Is it worse than the 5-year contract awarded to Keith Hill, or the ridiculous underhand contract that was secretly awarded to BBM who relegated us?
That team should never, ever have been relegated. That's where the rot started and we should never forget the damage that it inflicted on the club.
Roger the Bodger and Greengrass were largely responsible for that. I'll never forgive them. Ever. |

Too bloody true. If ever there was a player whose achievements deserved applause and recognition, it's him. Older than his manager and still scoring. As someone pointed out on Tuesday, Hendo was old enough to be the father of every player in the opposition team and he still showed them how it's done. Bravo. |

It's rumoured that a lot of the problems are caused by sub-standard work being carried out by the contractors employed to do the work on the pitch and possible inferior quality products used in the process. There is no cheap option or short cut when it comes to providing a top quality pitch.
Without the pitch, we have no club, in the same way a theatre without a stage is going bust.
If, as a club we have to spend a massive amount to rectify the faults, then so be it. If the club (per the Odens) wish to see crowds increase to 5,000, then someone needs to start cracking the whip and get their collective fingers out. Coasting along like this, is unacceptable. We have a team that is capable of reaching the play-offs, which could lead to the Holy Grail of the EFL, but we won't be going anywhere without a decent surface on which to achieve our collective aims.
Sadly, when the shares are watered down to such an extent as they were, it leaves the shareholders with no effective voice and no chance of being able to call for changes as has happened previously. Therefore, we are stuck in an endless rut and can't do anything about it. |

Sorry to hear that. He was in the team that played in the League Cup Final v Norwich. His mother-in-law used to live next door to me and he visited occasionally. He was manager at Barrow at one time, but probably most of his time was spent at Birmingham and West Brom.

I would imagine every young manager in the lower reaches of the pyramid would be hungry to progress to a higher level, for both professional and personal reasons.
Jim McNulty would be daft not to at least listen to what was being offered, rather than turn them down point blank.
I don't for a minute think he's unhappy here, I think he is committed to the job in hand, but also naturally curious as to what else is out there.
We can all look at a garage forecourt or an estate agent window, but it doesn't mean we want to buy a car or move house.

Anyone expecting loyalty in modern day football, is either naive in the extreme, or hopelessly away with the fairies.
Jim will surely do what is best for his own personal situation, and rightly so, because that is where his loyalty lies. If he is selected by Burton and he goes, he does so with my blessing. He's been incredibly dedicated to the job he has done here, on the field and as a manager in the dugout.
Any consolation might be that in our current situation, we have a better chance of recruiting a replacement with pedigree than we did when Jim took over.
As ever, the club will always be the primary concern. It's more important than anything else. |
