A nice piece. You understanding of non profit is not clear. It should make a profit but the the profit can not be paid out to stakeholders. It is interesting that the only people to profit are their lawyers and funders.
The Trust should profit every year from membership fee and interact on a whopping £1.3m. most of it coming from the club in a dividend pay ment and the legal settlement from Levien and co .
Dwr Cymru / Welsh Water is "not for profit". I has no shareholders to give profits to. It can invest in the markets.
The Trust needs to find somewhere to invest within the model rules or convert to a body that can.
They are like the dysfunctional family who won the pools and stats it was "the worst thing that happened to us" .
A Welsh committee that wanted "protection" instead of £20m. Protecting the shareholding of the dozy members is not that useful to the club. £20m would have been if they were ever minded to r invest.
I sorry you find it boring. I have no objections to you using the ignore button. "Boring" is subjective..
Jason Levien does not consider the Trust issues boring and gave them a major name check in his leaving piece in the WoL.
I believe the Trust has been bad for the club and soured the relationship with the US owners unnecessarily. I'm even confirmed my view.
The Trust cannot fulfill its be brief of it cannot grow. The word nest egg was never seen 2002-2016. It became a buzz word only after the sale and the threat of legal action. This word has disappeared again.
Swansea will be carrying games in hand for sure. Extra games means extra cash and there will be the important Welsh cup games as well. I am not promoting this idea actually as I think the Europeans will block it.
Coleman and Birch' s roles are not so do different as there is no Chairman and CEO just one man doing both jobs.
It does not affect them at all other than thd odd mid week scheduling problems. If Swansea crash out early of the League cup. They were not worried about is for years before. Coleman could ring up Trevor Birch one of his predecessors as chairman..
It is open house on the USA owners who invest but any discussion of the Welsh 10% owner who hides in is not welcome. It is censorship by the majority.
Discussing Levien is never "boring " apparently. Levien highlighted the Trust issue as a major reason for their failures and lack of fan engagement.
Levien said this . "We spent years mending and building the relationship with the supporters' trust that was damaged badly when we arrived.
"Stabilising that and finding a working relationship and resolution that ensures permanent shareholding for the trust in the club moving forward was critical in positioning the club for the future"
Levien deserves some credit for the permanent. 5% deal.
EFL do not care. The FAW were instructed to form a League of Wales and pressurized them. They stated no LoW no Europe. This was 20 years ago under the late Akun Evans. The exiles cause merry hell and resented being forced to join.
At this time Swansea and other pro teams left he Welsh cup and became eligible for Europe via thd England system.
Given that Eufa drove the formation o the LoW it is unlikely to undermine it's growth. UK football already has too many anomalies.
It is European Football that will make the call not the EFL or EPL.
"Trust is not there as a money making organisation is was there for the benefit of the club"
Who says? You say this but where is it written down? It is a grand Welsh cop out. This is the point I am making. The limits are set not by the Model rules but the little man mentality.
Slag off the Yankees for not spending money and put the Welsh wallet in the attic.
With that mentality why did they pay lawyers £400,000 with a plan to sue the American and other for £20m and give 55% £11m to their funders . That is why they had the Convertible loan note. Recover the loan and pay the Trust. Member voted for this bonkers plan.
Your writing suggests you are smart. Smart enough to be political and avoid conflict and derision from the ruling elite regulars.
Forums are for debate some banter.
The Trust has changed. It was for the little people to feel involved. Then Roberto showed up and it caught fire and grew rapidly. A 10,000% growth. The members were still in league two with Nick Cusack not Michal Laudrup in the Premier League. They needed to evolve but this was blocked by the little committee men money hoarders.
They want to be bucket carriers with arm bands to collect charity money from the fans rather that investing in growth areas like property where they generate their own cash.
Swansea city have good coaches and need to improve defenders..The defence seems like an area Williams has improved greatly with defenders getting their blocks in. He has done this with a back four and two CB.
Five ex Cardiff players in DC squad. Nelson, Adams and Mendez Liang. Nat Phillips and I'm ames Collins on bench. Only Phillips were considered good enough although Mendez Liang was sacked for disciplinary reasons
If Swansea drew say Sparta Prague or Malmo what crowds would the club attract? 10,000 perhaps? TV money from somewhere with S4C coverage perhaps. Who plays in the Carabao cup? The reserves and a academy player or two.
Then there is Wrexham and Cardiff which could bring in even bigger crowds and S4C.
Extra commercial income perhaps?
The £2-4m extra per season would need perhaps 4-5 extra revenue players at £1.5m excluding transfer fees.
I was privileged to see his last game in management which was the start of this current golden era.
A 4-1 thrashing of Norway. A very slick passing and exciting performance featuring Bale and Bellamy causing chaos. Vokes scores two from Bale assists. Mom was Swansea boy Matthews at fullback who went to the dark side..
Cooper never played Gyorkeres and Brighton recalled him. If Cooper had a 18 month plan for Vic it would have been great for Swansea. It is just the way it works
Managers want their picks over club picks. Cooper judgement was very poor in this case. Gyorkeres being different gravy to Davis.
Cooper wanted Keinan Davis on loan but he was too expensive it seems. I suspect Arriola and Morris were low cost. experienced internationals.
I could have worked. Fans were sniffy about two talented players. Arriola got caught up in some trivial teenage error of judgement. He might have been stitched up. Fa s had it in for K&L who's staff had given Gyorkeres on a plate.. For fans they could do right and managers like Martin fed of this weakness. Martin himself snubbed Whitaker.
Mari demanded K&L a talented striker. Whitaker was a top scorer and league 1 worth big money so they recalled him from Plymouth.
