For all the great saves last night I was struck by another part of his game. Towards the end of the first half (I think) when Cardiff pumped another garryowen (right ground wrong game lads) in to the box and as I was watching Dieng i was thinking - jesus come for it come for it - and he was waiting till the last moment so he was coming with the physical momentum enabling him to win the contact (right ground wrong game) - it was a simple thing but it really impressed me how calm he was and how he thought it through and used his physicality and momentum to claim the ball.
All keepers will have the odd issue (see SMithies last night) but I cant remember being so confident about a keeper since Smithies (I know repetition). They had a couple of free kicks just out side the area and my immediate reaction was they are going to have to nail this to beat Dieng.
Pretty sure SMyth is out of contract at end of season? Mide another year and if he keeps going the way he is at Oxford that might be a great player to have back next year.
Reflecting on the Manning deal - I just dont see any party who has won from it? Probably did well out of it and Ryan has a few more quid in his pocket but hes still behind (checks notes) Bidwell!
Totally agree - I'd put Chair/Shodipo/Niko/Kakay all in same place albeit Chair is further on.
The one thing about Mide is that he's had a number of injury problems he seems clear of these and a regular run of full games has given him confidence - the finish for his first goal at the weekend was ace and uinder pressure
If he goes I would expect to bring back one of Shodipo or Smyth - both doing well onloan - albeit League 1... I think Shodipo Contracted till 2022 whereas Smyth is 2021?
Agree - its hardly a sellers market is it? I wonder if the BOS extension will nail him down for another year.. Then sell when market a little stronger. The Eze sale has meant we can keep the lights on for another season or so... and by then another couple of teams could well be gone or in breach of FFP?
