| Forum Thread | The Swansea City all-time tier list at 08:22 21 Dec 2020
I've recently become obsessed with tier lists. I love a tier list. You should too. (Who doesn't love tiers right now?) So I thought about compiling an all-time Swans player tier list to determine who is at the top and who is a flop. For those of you who don't know how a tier list works - firstly, where have you been? - it's simple. Each player is put into a tier that best reflects their contribution to the Swans in their time at the Vetch/Liberty. From the middle of the road in 'BANG AVERAGE' ; 'HEAD SLAPPER' for the worst players to pull on a white shirt and 'YOU JACK BASTARD' being reserved for the best of the best. Each round I will put forward 4 players; 1 goalkeeper; 1 defender; 1 midfielder; and 1 forward, all from different eras of the Swans history (might be tricky for younger viewers) for you to rank, discuss, debate and (presumably) argue over. General consensus will determine where each player will be placed in the tier list with any contentious decisions to be decided by me (because it's my ball and if I don't play, nobody gets to play.) I have compiled a list of Swans players from available online sources to include as many as possible and will select players at (sort of) random, so be patient if you're waiting for your favorite (or pet hate) to pop up. Feel free to suggest player(s) to feature in the next round (if we get that far) and I will try to get them in or add them to the list if I've missed them off. Yes, I attempted this on the other site but I got 1 good response, 1 response from someone who clearly didn't understand the concept and 1 asking questions about semantics, so hopefully more luck of a fun discussion on here... The tiers are as follows: 1. YOU JACK BASTARD - For the best of the best, club legends 2. First Team Player - played well but that's about it 3. Bang Average - they were just sort of there, nothing special, nothing disasterous 4. Who Are Ya? - if you have to squint at the name and try to remember 5. Head Slapper - for the absolute worst players to pull on a Swans shirt The first candidates; GK - Ryan Harrison DEF - Reuben Agboola MID - Pablo Hernandez FWD - Lee Trundle Go... |
| Forum Thread | The 7 totems of Swansea at 13:58 15 Jan 2020
Has anybody watched the Netflix series 'You'? It's an excellent series, very suspenseful with intriguing characters and is very well written. Anyway, in one episode of the 2nd season, the main character learns of the '7 totems of LA', which are semi-unique sights/incidents of LA that, once you see all 7 you become a true Los Angelean and can 'never leave'. The 7 totems are; A roller blader in booty shorts A "ghetto bird" (police helicopter) Two girl’s in same dress at the same event A pack of coyotes A dog in a stroller An off brand super hero A palm tree on fire This got me thinking to what the 7 totems of Swansea could possibly be? Things that any true Swansea resident would have encountered at some point but not necessarily a fixture (like a landmark) and are semi-unique to the place. I'm struggling to think of any off the top of my head but I'm sure you clever/funny people might be able to come up with some good ideas... |
| Forum Thread | 2 x Villa tickets needed at 11:51 11 Oct 2018
Anybody changed their mind about going to Villa and has 2 x adult tickets, me and a mate are looking to buy. Already booked a hotel prior to finding out that the allocation was sold out (Luckily have free cancellation but would still prefer to go to the game). Can collect anywhere in or near Swansea or in some areas of London. |
| Forum Thread | Years since relegation at 08:01 16 May 2018
The bit of trivia that has popped up both on here and in the pub regarding the last time we were relegated got me thinking how lucky we've actually been over the last decade and a half. It got me wondering how we have compared to others since our last relegation in 2001. So out of boredom, curiosity and pure anorak syndrome, I've gone through all relegations back to 1992 (which picked up 95% of relegations) then done an individual club check on the remaining teams. Apologies for any errors. I tried to do some double checks on any that looked suspicious or surprising. Any corrections are welcome. Also, apologies for the format. Excel doesn't translate well here. One that took my notice was this was Burton's first relegation since 1977. Final note, this only includes relegation from the EPL/EFL unless otherwise stated. Teams may have been relegated from the conference since the year listed. | Forum Thread | Any pubs show the games anymore? at 09:20 15 Apr 2017
Obviously can't be stated by name in this topic, but are there any pubs in Swansea still showing Swans games? I used to know of a couple that would have "private" showings, but even that's gone by the wayside now. Any places hidden in a backstreet somewhere that has escaped scrutiny from Sky? A PM would be appreciated if there is [Post edited 15 Apr 2017 9:20]

Just out of curiosity today I thought I'd take a gander at how DC have performed whilst Levien has been at the helm. I know Dav is the stat man around here, but I thought I'd share my findings for no other reason than FYI. I'm not expressing an opinion at this stage. | Forum Thread | Warra twunt! at 14:51 20 Mar 2014
Does anybody know the owner of this car? He is the biggest (Well, smallest) pile of wasted spunk I've ever encountered. In Tesco car park earlier waiting for a family to put their daughter and pram into the car (The bloke took a little bit longer to put the pram in the boot than he should have, but hey ho.) I must have waited patiently for about 5 minutes while others did the same behind me (to allow for the car to come out as well). As soon as they pulled out, that perr-ick cut up me and 5 other cars to pull into the space (His stupid chavvy bint laughed as they passed me). I got out and knocked his door and told him to get out of the space. He got out with his small man syndrome and Gangstaaaa cap and started giving it the big ones. "You what mate! You want it! I'll have ew.." etc... I put my hand out to stop him from coming towards me and with no force or pressure applied he stumbled back into his door and started again "Don't push me! Don't push me mush!" Luckily for him, I'm off on holiday tonight, so don't fancy being banged up otherwise I would have chinned the little scrote. If anyone does know him or see him, feel free to direct him here as I would love to arrange a little "chat" when I get back. Also, thanks to the lady who pulled up when I finally managed to park somewhere to see if I was ok and agreed that he was out of order. |
| Forum Thread | Season Reviews / Match DVDs at 15:00 12 Feb 2014
I've noticed that the Swans shop has a limited amount of DVDs in stock now. I always have a yearning to watch some old games or season reviews. I have a handful of match DVDs (Preston, 2x Cardiff, Southampton, Leicester, plus another 1 or 2 I can't remember now) and some season reviews (2010-11, 12-13 & 13-14) Does anyone know where I could get more? Anyone with their own collection willing to give away/loan/sell/upload/swap? |
| Forum Thread | What was your expectation for this season? at 10:15 21 Jan 2014
With all of the doom and gloom going on here, I'm actually interested to learn what the general expectation was from the start of this season.
I, for one, think we are pretty much where I expected us to be.

| Forum Thread | Bottom half vs top 8 at 00:03 21 Jan 2014
So the top 8 have been pretty ruthless this year and have put some distance between themselves and the bottom lot, even at this early stage. Now, we've just come out of our horrendous fixture run and are looking at some winnable games coming up and it will be these games that will save or doom these clubs. But who has the worst run out of all of the teams in contention to be included in a relegation scrap this season? I've discounted Southampton as, while they had a good start, they've faltered a bit recently. They'll be safe (Just a couple more wins will do) but they're not as intimidating as the other teams above Villa. So, make of this what you will.; Villa Top 4 (to play): 2 Top 6: 3 Top 8: 6 1 Home, 5 Away Hull Top 4: 2 Top 6: 4 Top 8: 6 5 Home, 1 Away Norwich Top 4: 4 Top 6: 5 Top 8: 7 5 Home, 2 Away West Brom Top 4: 4 Top 6: 5 Top 8: 6 4 Home, 2 Away Stoke Top 4: 3 Top 6: 4 Top 8: 6 4 Home, 2 Away Swansea Top 4: 3 Top 6: 4 Top 8: 5 1 Home, 4 Away Palace Top 4: 4 Top 6: 5 Top 8: 7 3 Home, 4 Away Fulham Top 4: 3 Top 6: 5 Top 8: 7 4 Home, 3 Away West Ham Top 4: 4 Top 6: 6 Top 8: 7 3 Home, 4 Away Sunderland Top 4: 4 Top 6: 6 Top 8: 8 1 Home, 7 Away Cardiff Top 4: 2 Top 6: 4 Top 8: 6 2 Home, 4 Away I would not like to be in Sunderlands boat right now. We have the least of the top 8 to play, but 4 of them are away. EDIT: Damn, didn't see the other thread on this. Too slow :-/ [Post edited 21 Jan 2014 1:41]

| Forum Thread | Planning a road trip through France at 15:41 25 Aug 2013
Something I've thought about doing for a while. Was going to drive straight to Monaco and back a couple of years ago but it didn't come about. I've expanded on the idea now and hopefully will do it next year with the missus. Anybody here done anything similar? What's it like driving in a different country? Anything I should watch out for or be aware of? Here's my planned route so far. Suggestions on other places to see or visit are welcome also thoughts on whether or not this is feasible in 2 weeks; Hastings Rouen Paris Ouradour-sur-Glane Bordeaux Pau Rennes-le-Chateaux Nice Monaco Turin Montreux Reims Dover |
