Rooney will either go to Man City or Chelski, cannot see anyone else signing him.

I think he'll go to the MLS, follow Beck's footsteps (and many others).

A change of scene would invigorate the guy.Although more likely Paris than London.

I do not think the US diet will be good for him. I have always booked hotels with gyms when I have gone to the States. Rooney will get to about 16 stone.

MLS are about to make Obafemi Martins the league's record signing for $4m.

Rooney wont be in their ballpark for at least 5/6 years.

Rooney is gonna lose his pace and waistline very soon. Hes just that type of player. He wont be that good after 27 so makes sense for Man U to cash in on him whilst he can go for top dollar

Poll: Who do we want down with us and Burnley?

0
Wayne Rooney on 10:32 - Mar 7 with 1574 viewsexiled_dictator

Rooney has definitely gone off the boil in the last year or two.
He seems about 2 stone too heavy, and about a second too slow.
Although he can still hit a good ball (witness v Norwich t'other week), SAF doesn't believe he is an outright striker a la RVP. He seems to play more at the front of the diamond, or on the left of a 3-man strike force.
A top striker for £20 million is far from unreasonable nowadays, but he is far from being a top striker. Plus, his £300k a week might be a problem.
I would pass, hoping he will go abroad to Italy, Spain or even Russia. 4 years ago, he was worth talking about in the highest echelons. But not any more.
Didn't they close down that old people's home in Cheshire?

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Trouble is with Fergie when you're out you're really out. When love affairs end they go nasty.
I'd still have that fat little f*ck Rooney, but less than the £20m.

Dropped for a start in 1 game and its 'He's going' blah blah blah....

Ridiculous.

Also I would have him at QPR in a heartbeat, class player.

I completely agree with that, he wasnt picked for 1 game so what?

Taraabt about to leave now is he? (Don't answer that).

AF picked a team which up until the redcard was out playing Real Madrid and seemingly coasting a goal to the good. Ronaldo had no effect and had gone into "Do it all yourself and get nowhere" mode.

Horses for courses and all that.

Reckon this isn't a million miles off the mark.

Don't think he will still be playing PL football in his mid 30s personally.

Fancy he might even end up behind the striker at City next season on exorbitant wages and calorie intake.

28 this summer, United had 9 good years out of him, let someone else try and make him a CM on £250k/week.

Arguably the best English player of his generation, but no he is not an out and out striker. Needs People do do his leg work for him as his fitness gets worse.
He's obviously a stocky lad and once he retires will balloon.

For England it's vital he is paired with Welbeck who can run all day.

I haven't watched too much of United this season, but Rooney looked terrible in the Euros last summer.

Didn't need to work up a sweat against us at Loftus Road, so hard to judge that one.

Perhaps Kagawa was brought in to replace him, as soon as Kagawa has come back from injury United are 'prepared to listen for offers'.

Looks like Fergie's had to bide his time to get his revenge.

Not a silly post, just a hypothetical question and they sometimes tell you something. In this case I think he performs the same sort of role as Taarabt so even hypothetically my answer would be "No, unless we have both worked out where we want Taarabt to play and gone and sold him."

And even then I'd still rather have Taarabt because Rooney will always be an ex-Everton fan whose glory days were at ManU. Even if he was good for us you can bet he will always be "ex-United legend" in the press. Whereas Taarabt, French-speaking Moroccan who we signed from Spurs though he may be, and even if he goes on to win a hatful of medals with Barcelona or whatever, will be remembered here as a true Rangers no. 10 and we will always be able to say that QPR made him.

I want more players who are ours and fewer who came here as a step down. For same reason I want us to keep Diakite and Faurlin and work on them, not just off-load.

Utd want the money to get Ronaldo back, simples.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Thanks for that.In the original hypothesis it was as much about image and commerce as anything else. What better way to boost your image than a signing of this kind? And at a fairly reasonable cost.Maybe both Taarabt and Rooney could be accommodated.
But hey,it's just a bit of fun speculation.
