In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? 16:16 - Nov 12 with 4305 views | Bakes | Was it the management? The players? The other teams being poor? Adel? Spirit? Why can't we recreate that success? We were unbeaten for nearly half a season and now 2 years on we haven't a game as of yet or won an away match in a year.

In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 16:21 - Nov 12 with 3354 views | daveB | team work, when we had the ball we attacked as a team with men getting forward and supporting Helguson but when we defended players worked hard, got into position and made it hard for teams to break us down. At that level if you have good shape and defend set pieces well you always stand a chance.
In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 16:23 - Nov 12 with 3348 views | ElHoop | We had the best team around at the team, that's why we were successful. But we never had any great defenders did we, and no youth players coming through. Most of the teams coming up have some decent defenders and the ones that don't tend to go down again. We never had any in the first place and we still don't have enough good solid reliable ones who keep clear of injury and brain defects. The youth policy inherited by the current regime means that there's nothing much coming through to push for places and 'be' QPR players. We went up because we bought enough quality over a period of time to which a bit of old fashioned steel could be added and the result was promotion, but we never accumulated good defenders.

Agree we didnt play the most eye catching football, apart from Adel and when Routledge came. We also had amazing team spirit everyone fighting for each other , which we dont have now . infact I dont think we were the best team in the league but we were so solid and had leaders on the pitch in Derry and Hill .

In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 16:58 - Nov 12 with 3248 views | stuabd | The above plus the fact that we started well and grew in confidence. Winning matches early on put us in a good position and we carried on from there. We had some good fighters and characters in that team. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I truely believe he won us promotion that season - based on the results of games he missed and how many moments of magic he had.
In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 17:02 - Nov 12 with 3234 views | paulparker | we had a bit of everything Good Management, organistation leadership throught the spine of the team, paddy, Hill, Derry, Heider Players who can win a game in a minute , tarrabet, mackie Routledge, Buzacky, Fans we were all united after a good start and stayed with the team no matter what, no tango & cash sticking their noses in to much , the right formation for our team good signings a lot of credit should go to Warnock as the previous year we could have gone down to league 1, leaves a bitter taste how he went last year
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Is the right answer. And it's been true for years. The best teams in the Championship are the best organised. Add a goalscorer or 2 and you have a top 6 team. I remember Ipswich finishing 3rd with Bent and Scowcroft. Of course they blew the playoffs. Blackpool came up with Taylor-Fletcher and Adam. Reading had Kevin Doyle.

In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 18:07 - Nov 12 with 3124 views | Northernr | People with a point to prove. Absolutely invaluable to an organisation in any walk of life. Kenny - just been banned for a year, written off as a Championship keeper, not Prem standard. Orr, Gorkss, Faurlin, Buzsaky, Mackie - all, with respect, playing for the biggest club in their careers (Orr was a trainee at Newcastle but never played), grateful to the club for giving them a chance and eager to prove themselves in the Premier League. Connolly, Taarabt, Helguson, Smith, Ephraim - rejected by Premiership teams, hungry to get back and prove them wrong Derry, Hill - last chance to go for the Premier League. Walker - forgotten after leaving Sheff Utd, stuck in Spurs reserves, have a good spell and he can break through at Spurs and with England. Warnock - bit of money to spend, shot at the Premier League again where he failed before. Our team now is made up of players who have nothing left to prove on a final pay day and/or players who have come from far, far bigger clubs and potentially see QPR as a bit small time and beneath them. They don't owe QPR their Premier League player status, they could have got another club if we hadn't bid for them. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I'll add to that that a number of players believe that if we go down they'll get themselves another top tier club here or abroad so they lack the fighting spirit of say a Derry, Hill or Mackie. M'Bia is only on a 2 yr contract ffs, and he doesnt appear to have even wanted to sign for us. He's hardly going to be fighting to the death.

In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 12:03 - Nov 13 with 2996 views | TacticalR | Prior to Warnock we often played well, but we had a soft underbelly that could be cut open by pacy, physical teams like Leicester. Warnock really got the defensive side of things right. This gave the Championship promotion team the ability to soak up punishment, and that's actually a great skill. It's the reason why a team can appear to play badly and still win.

In your opinion, What made us so successful during our promotion season? on 13:10 - Nov 13 with 1302 views | Mattnme | It worked because we had the right combination of everything. Adel took the plaudits but without Hill, Derry, Kenny, Helguson, Gorkks, Mackie, Faurlin and the rest it wouldn't have worked. They needed each other and they worked for each other. The sum of all the parts was good.
