the FA say ' handshake ' must happen. on 18:27 - Sep 14 by Juzzie | The handshake thing is all about adding a couple of extra minutes for a TV ad break. This is the time where there are most people viewing. Have you noticed that whenever watching a game on Sky Sports they start the handshakes and it goes to an ad break and then back to the game just as they kick off? Coincidence?.... nope. I know our game isn't on TV but they have to happen at all games, probably to hide the fact it's real reason is for advert revenue, not for the 'spirit of the game'. |
When the Portsmouth landlady case was on it was ruled that the actual match action could not be copyrighted, but everything else around it in the immediate build up, aftermath and at half time could be. That includes the pre-match handshakes and that rancid theme music they play - this is the reason they're so desperate for it to remain.

the FA say ' handshake ' must happen. on 15:54 - Sep 14 by qprtino82 | Shaking hands BEFORE the game is crap anyway. It should be done AFTER and only after the game. |
On SSN about 20 minutes ago they interviewed a collection of managers plus Ray wilkins and all concurred that handshakes should only be done AFTER the game. Ray went as far to say 'you don't get handshakes before a rugby game, you don't see handshakes before the Olympic 100metre final either'. Will the local shops sell out of choc ices ???

Hey Oak no facts on this thread please. It is pretty obvious that Ferdinand is not going to shake Terry's hand, or Cole's for that matter. I don't have any problem with that, he has good reason and it's up to him. Neither the Premier League nor anyone else actually sees this as a issue to be forced imo, their attempts to persuade will fall on deaf ears at least until the hearing result is known and any appeal process exhausted. Despite it's good side, eg work in the community, professional football just keeps showing that fundamentally it is a tribal activity in which gamesmanship, cheating, abuse, and disrespect thrive.

" And long may that continue. Lose the tribalism and football loses one of the fundamental reasons that keeps us going back - something the likes of Alan Green will never understand.
