Hanging on here. Our defensive clearances are so poor...and our keeper could have easily gifted them two goals in the second half. But by the same token, we have defended well and he's made several good saves.
In all honesty, we have not created much at all but Gateshead haven't been direct enough. Some tremendous shithousery from Waller in injury time. We would be going potty if we were on the receiving end.

I've been sceptical of Hogan but thought he was terrific tonight. That's a good win against a good team, thought their commentary team were were decent as well.
Two evenly matched sides who play in similar ways. They tippy tappy sideways at the back more than we do!
After the red card / goal, superb game management by Dale. Drop the tippy tappy and LAUNCH it away from our goal every time. Waller played a blinder in goal - he's a canny lad.
Good turnout in Ratcliffes and a lot of shredded nerves, but worth it for an excellent three points.
UP THE DALE

Great win and well deserved for such a rear guard 2nd half........Dark Arts showing a bit at the end, hope we learn a bit as other teams would have done exactly the same.
Still scratching mi head saying how did we get away with that?
Hope the atmosphere at the Ratcliffe was tops.

In Jim’s interview he mentioned that changes were made when the sending off occurred. Then several other tweaks were made in the last 30 minutes, including Penney being asked to change his focus more than once. This is how I thought football works from park level to premier. Managers react to how the game is flowing. That is why I continue to be surprised to hear BJ has no plan B. He has played professionally for years I am sure he knows how to make tweaks. At one advanced stage last season TVOS mentioned we had yet to get either consecutive wins, draws or losses (hope I haven’t misquoted there). After 4 straight wins a one point we seem to be reverting to that patten. Our form is the 2nd worse in the top 9 over the last 6 games. We need to regain a bit of consistency and turn more losses into draws, never mind draws into losses. Then I might rekindle the view that we are as good as I thought we were. This battling performance is a start. Well done lads. UTD

Over those last six games:
LWLWLW
Consistently inconsistent, but chance to break that pattern at home to Tamworth on Saturday
Could do with Forest Green beating Halifax tonight (or at least a draw) to reinforce our top six place, then another win would set us up for the winter with that place ours to let go

I could be wrong but I don’t think we have a game on Saturday because Tamworth are at Burton in the FACup on Sunday. I think Tamworth has been moved to Tuesday 17th Dec, which is our next home game, apart from Man U u9’s next Tuesday…

Play offs include the 7th placed team, not down to 6th place. I have always thought that the National League play off system is preferable to the EFL system. Much fairer, taking into account as it does each teams relative position for home advantage and the extra game 4th to 7th have to play. Right now I would take 7th place if offered. Up the Dale

The Gateshead win is pretty meaningless if we do not consolidate it with a win at home on Saturday.
There seems to be a gulf opening up with the top 7 and the rest. With Oldham in ominous form we need to hope that FGR and York have poor runs of form to tighten things up.
With our players rested and returning from injury we should not fear any side in the division especially if Kairo and Devante start banging goals in again.

We’re not playing on Saturday, as mentioned a few posts above.
