The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 06:25 - Dec 13 by dmm | Cifuentes seems to like using the squad rather than sticking with the same starting 11 so I'm wondering what changes he'll make tonight. My guess is Dunne for Cook and EDB for Dozzell. We might even see Armstrong for Smyth. A formation of 4231 again. |
I was thinking the same earlier dm with six games coming up in nineteen days. I was also thinking do we try to win the game early on and then make substitutions or do we see the first half out and then bring the big guns on? I quite like the idea of Armstrong giving them a rough first half and then making changes.

The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 18:45 - Dec 13 with 3008 views | kensalriser | It would be absolutely classic QPR to get right up to the line and fail to cross it. My rational brain is telling me we're playing well, Marti's sorted it out and Plymouth are eminently beatable. But then, QPR...

Looks like it. Looks like he feels Cannon and Clarke-Salter can't do 90 tonight but I would be surprised if they don't both feature at some stage. I wonder if he feels that Plymouth may tire as the game goes on and is keeping Smyth and Armstrong available to add pace later in the game? We shall see.

The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 18:51 - Dec 13 with 2852 views | ngbqpr | Marti rotates again. Hope it works as well as it did at Preston. Cannon and Clarke Salter clearly too fragile for 3 match weeks. Kelman wide for Smyth I guess?

Possibly Kelman Willock and Chair as a 3 behind Dykes?

The big chance for Kelman. On the previous glimpses I’ve seen of him before suggest that he is not good enough for this level but I hope to be proved wrong. In Marti we trust.
The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 18:58 - Dec 13 with 2674 views | rbee | Possibly Chair and Willock wide, Dykes a little deeper and Kelman up top. I hope not as that would be a bit defensive for a home game but the centre of Field and Dozzell might struggle in a straight 4 4 2

got to agree - if Kelman couldn't get a regular start for Orient in league 2 then he's going to be way short for championship football. fingers crossed he'll prove us wrong

This would be my guess too. Kelman’s done decently enough in his sub appearances to merit a start, little bit nervous but MC’s shown he knows how to rotate the squad. [Post edited 13 Dec 2023 19:08]

The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 19:14 - Dec 13 with 2340 views | traininvain | Marti’s showing real confidence in the squad by rotating. It’s a bit of a different approach from ‘this lot will be lucky to finish 21st’ but it seems to be working so far. It might well go wrong tonight but it must be giving some of the fringe players confidence that the manager trusts them to do a job.
The "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim." Plymouth Argyle thread on 19:27 - Dec 13 with 2151 views | BklynRanger | Again I like the fact that we punters can't figure out what Marti's up to. He seems 3 or 4 steps ahead. Hope it works out tonight.

I agree. For various reasons we will be on the end of bad results but even if we are I feel we finally have a coach who can make it right. I love that he seems to have very particular plans for players on the bench so that they really feels part of the team. Not just bums on seats.

Would make a change from United, Liverpool and Citeh then. I'm actually quite impressed if someone living in, say, Basingstoke, looks around, finds no local side to support, and says "right, Plymouth Albion it is." Obviously they've missed The Finest Football Team The World Has Ever Seen, but then they also don't have the sense to move out of Basingstoke.
