Australia Day 17:47 - Jan 26 with 2229 viewsDaniel

As today is Australia's national day, how many former U's players can we name from there?

I can only think of 3.

I can only think of two, maybe three as well. I’ll start with the worst one so not to spoil the fun.

Con Blatsis - but I'm sure there must be more than three over the years?

My 3 have been named and I agree with RS on who was the worst.

There must be more or am I forgetting that foreign players weren't so prevalent before the 1990s.

John Baines, Pat Woods, Sammy McLeod, all early 1960s.

Sorry Chaps.

I listed players who went there (not came from there).

Up the U's again.

What about Digger Kettle, surely he qualifies with a name like that?

I don't doubt it, obviously never met the man myself.

So I've googled, and according to WorldFootball.net, the following are also listed as Australians (plus DoB) that have played for Colchester United, which I've fact-checked with Graeson's ColuData website.

Richard Johnson (27/4/74) - appeared once vs Yeovil Town on 4/11/03;
Dominic Kurasik (4/11/96) - drew a blank on ColuData; and
Thomas McColl (19/9/45) - appeared twice vs Barnsley on 24/8/63 and Mansfield on 14/9/64.

According to transfermarkt, Kurasik (a goalkeeper) was an U21 player who joined in August 2017, went on loan to the Jammers in September, returned in October and left the U's in July 2018. No record he ever appeared for the first team.

I'll be honest, don't remember any of them - anyone else?

Richard Johnson draws a blank with me, but he was apparently only with us for a month.
