Cov on 23:37 - Jan 24 by washington_saint | I remember being at Highfield Road one year in corporate and we won our first league match of the season (almost unheard of). This was the year Bally was manager and Ekelund destroyed COventry with even Dowie getting on the score sheet. Happy days (and real positivity) for about 5 games until Ekelund did his back and never played for us again. |
The 1-0 win on the opening day of the season was way past Bally, it was August 1999 when Egil Ostenstad scored a later winner. The Grobellaar and Ronnie Eklund game was a 3-1 win in September 1994

The Grobellaar game I remember was his disgraceful “performance” against Spurs in the cup. 2-6 thanks to that asswipe. WAC.

I bumped into Grobellaar in a pub toilet after the game at Anfield this season, although he was perfectly polite, he struck me as a little arrogant and not a likeable person

You don't necessarily meet the best people in public toilets

I met a few of the lawyers who represented News International a few years back and what they had to say confirmed my worst suspicions…

He came across similarly when at Saints, I thought.

Cov on 14:32 - Jan 25 with 839 views | Wints76 | When the trial was going on, me and a friend (wtoo, who veterans from here may remember) used to use Greens Wine Bar in Winch. The journalists and lawyers used the same bar at the time of the trial. One of the many lawyers told us 'Yeh, of course they're guilty, but we'll get them off'. He was drunk, and laughed as he said it, but I still think he meant it. Incidentally, the 2-6 game V Spurs was a few months after the initial accusations, so I don't think he threw it, I think he was just rubbish.

I disagree about him not throwing it. He virtually threw the ball in the net at one point!

The view from the other side was guilty and they were dumbstruck when he got off. Some of his defence points actually had the judge laughing at one point they said….
