Cameron Toshack 18:29 - Apr 5 with 4660 views | huwrichards57 | Get him in asap. Available, plays the right way. And give him a 3 year contract to fix the style. [Post edited 5 Apr 2021 18:29]

They played fast, flowing, attacking football that was enjoyable to watch. They destroyed some of the best payed and sourced Prem under 23 teams along the way. Which is why so many of them have come in to the 1st team and gone on to better things over the last few years. |
No they haven’t. Roberts and Rodon were already in the system before Toshack was appointed. Prem money brought in James, McBurnie, and Grimes who were all developed elsewhere. Is there anyone else of note ? If we dont have the dosh to recruit anymore, then what do we base this faith on ?

Mark Allen stated in an interview the other day that the club would continue to bring in players from outside Wales as they have done before with James, Grimes and McBurney. He was unequivocable about this. Rio Cambell, Akande a couple of players from Derby County are testament to this.

DJ's transfer was finalised at the end of that season but he'd come down earlier. They and Connor, plus Lewis Thomas (Forest Green), Alex Samuel (Wycombe) and Aaron Lewis (Newport) were playing for Toshack before they all moved up to u23s together iirc. Not really fair to lump them in with Grimes and McBurnie who arrived with senior experience and spent most of their time away on loans. The u23s played some decent stuff in the last couple of seasons with that group. Proper pace down each wing, played out from the back, good in possession and on the counter. I wasn't always a fan of some of his selections (at centre forward especially) but it was more fun to watch than the dross we were serving up in the PL at the time. He did well getting Pafos going last season after he arrived but then started really poorly this one, leading to the sacking. But if the gossip is to be believed their owners had put the wheels in motion for that months earlier, making the job that much harder.

Paphos sounds like spin to me. Not many successful managers get the boot just for the hell of it. Do they ? So he flew him half way around the world just to be unfair to him and sack him for no reason. It does not stack up tbh. Anyway, 3 nil away at The New Den means he can show us what he has got elsewhere, so we will see i guess. Who knows ?

I thought we were talking about professional association football?. "Not many successful managers get the boot just for the hell of it. Do they ?" Of course they do. Huw Jenkins wanted to bring in Brendan but that woud have been very unfair on Guidolin. The US people sacked him anyway after losing to Man city unluckily twice and Liverpool. You will remember the contriversial penalty with Van De Horn on Aguero. The Russian brought in Toshack A couple of defeats then his mate became available bingo.

Being a manager for a Russian mini oligarch is never going to be a settled job for a philosophy based coach like Toshack. I uderstand he was interiewed for the Cooper post but lost out. His CV had no Senior experience. He now has a 6 month or so experience with a decent set of results in an improving league.

Well Toshack ain’t Brendan is he ? He has a chance now elsewhere and be interesting to see how he goes. Be pretty unlucky to have another trigger happy Russian boss, eh ?

The very nature of triggier happy Ruskie bosses is that vacancies come up quite often. Tomas Tuchel is not sending his kids to school in London if has any sense unless he plans to manage Arsenal or Spurs or West Ham. The Cyprus trip served it purpose and he now has senior experience on his CV. If Cooper goes to the FA he can represent it to Winter. He got decent results had no major busts ups with star players and was unlucky to be moved on. If they players on the deck, attacking football that will also reflect well. Potter had 6 years of it Cooper zero at senior level. [Post edited 11 Apr 2021 20:58]
