(I am posting this for him for fairly obvious reasons)

A MESSAGE TO ALL WELSH FOOTBALL FANS FROM ROD, A SWANSEA CITY FAN ABUSED BY THE FAR RIGHT

"Hi there, this is a message about an anti racism campaign Swansea and Cardiff fans are doing in the run up to the derby game on 20th March.

The message simply is this
RIVALS ON THE PITCH BUT UNITED AGAINST RACISM.

With the appalling racist abuse that Yan Dhanda had following the game against Man City, it re-emphasises the importance of players taking the knee in the fight to end racism.

Could you please spare a few seconds to
*make a video or photo of yourself taking the knee to be used in our social media and hopefully on a giant banner displayed at the game; please send it back to us standuptoracismswansea@gmail.com
* add your name here .
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZUSZ8qjf5TxKzdo5FsHanCbrurn3TUTkFW0s-

The campaign against racism is so so important.

If you could spare a few seconds to do the video / photo and show your support to Yan Dhanda and also in the campaign against racism, that would be brilliant.

Thanks for your time,

Best Regards

Rod

Well done boys. ✊🏾

Keep it up.
Hopefully we will be the last club in the Football League still doing it in 2030.

The biggest shame I think was the OP put up a very worthy post, whether you agree with bending the knee or not, most will agree with the anti-racial message.

Then before anyone can post in a good way, someone posts something derogatory against the posters on the board and sends it all sideways.

I agree with the view that this was done on purpose, at least with the intent to offend.

I could never understand the us and them view but some appear to believe in it.

If you are truly offended by the people who post here, then its simple, stay away.

I'm truly offended by the first response and will continue in his ear until he grows a pair and answers without playing games. Cowardly.

OK I've changed it.

I'd rather hope we had beaten racism by then and taking the knee was no longer needed. Each to their own.

I know we won't have beaten it by then we may never do so but I can hope.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

MAKE RACISTS AND HATE SPEECH UNACCEPTABLE IN OUR GAME.

Plenty on here have opposed having to see our players taking a knee, clearly stated they would never do it themselves ("submissive gesture", wasn't it?) etc. Fans wouldn't put up with it once allowed back in the stadium, apparently.

Lots of "anti-Marxists" finding ways to oppose BLM and everything it represents. Dress it up any way you like, it's a Right-leaning board even ignoring the flag-waving Trump-supporters.

Keep politics off the pitch, I don't think it will not end well for anyone. Let the players support themselves financially first, then they can make all the gestures they like.

What about the thousands of fans like myself, who vehemently oppose racism in any form, but who see the 'knee' gesture as signifying support for a political organisation they don't wish to be associated with.
Are the footballers really that stupid, that they would want to alienate possibly hundreds of thousands of supporters?
Is it just a case of the lunatics running the asylum, or is this a deliberate move to set people against each other?
Bit of common sense required, the older posters will remember common sense.

The "taking the knee" race free "message" for the FA is not the same as the "taking the knee" "protest" popularised by the marxist BLM. The current version is the FA version a message to fans from players if they want to.

However black players including Swansea's players have demonstrated their support the 'protest' approach of BLM by adding a clenched fist supplement. This fist gesture is a black power gesture first seen in the 1968 Olympic and definately a protest.

In my judgement the FA can just about get away with stealing the BLM gesture and rehashing it as race inclusive gesture "message" for generic equality for all. However the players are doing their own thing by use of the black fist.

I have no objection to taking the knee as a Team action but why is Matt Grimes not doing a fist gesture as well? They should not be doing different gestures to suit individual agendas in a Swansea shit surely?

“ This fist gesture is a black power gesture first seen in the 1968 Olympic ”

No it’s not.

It’s been used as a symbol of resistance, solidarity etc etc by all sorts of groups. One of those that raised his fist at the 1968 Olympics, Tommie Smith, actually stated it was done as a symbol of the struggle for human rights not as a ‘black power‘ salute.

Btw - they aren’t raising a ‘black fist’. Various players whether here or elsewhere are raising a fist and some of them doing so happen to be black.

I’m surprised at NotLoyal liking this nonsense, the raised fist became particularly prevalent in the Spanish Civil war by anti fascists fighting Franco, and his historical family connection to that struggle has been explained previously.

So lets have a look at this holistically, Taking the knee TTK

Some clubs do TTK and some clubs do not.

Some clubs TTK with some of their individual players not taking part (usually a black player)

The black players of some clubs make a clenched fist salute during the message.

The black players of some clubs do not make a clenched fist salute during the message.

No white players do the clenched fist.

No white player has not TTK as far as I know.

The meaning of TTK has more than one interpretation. Many people still atribute the TTK to BLM protests of the summer which the Swansea club itself aligned to. The policies of BLM include defunding the Police. It is presumed Swansea city AFC do not agree with this.

The meaning of a clenched fist has more than one interpretation for black people. The meaning of the clenched fist has more than one interpretation for white people but predominatly a gesture of socialism. It is not clear if a black raised fist is also attributable to socialism. The raising of arm with a flat palm is clearly known to be fascist and would result in a very long ban without doubt.

Booing any of these gestures seen today (whatever they may mean) could result in arrest on public order grounds I suspect as police were put on alert after a recent incident. They were shut down previously on ground of Covid rules relating to forming of groups. Some of the groups were known to have extreme right wing affliations.

Steve Cooper has insisted his players will continue to take the knee until they decide not to. He made no comment on the raising of a clenched right fist by some but not all of his black players. The meaning of a raised left clenched fist is unclear by either a black man or a while man.

Some fans just want to go to football matches to watch football and take pride in their team and not get involved in global movements and matters of race. Incidences of racial abuse at SCFC (excepting anti Welsh race hate) is extremely rare.

He can answer for himself I’m sure, however I read his separatist comment differently. If that’s what you refer to, he has his own views, mine are far more cast in stone, history is a great educator. For him I suspect living where he does and the people around him it’s a far more difficult reality.

It's separating support by clenching a fist. Gestures are the problem in modern day society. Regardless of the subject. Taking the knee is separating people, a clenched fist is the same. As jack59 said, let's just be anti hate and racism. For me the gestures do nothing, and it bears no resemblance to the 1930's. It's not the time to alienate, especially when that berkhampstead at the start of this thread decided to support racism by being divisive.

OK I've changed it.

Yeah, Tommis Smith put it in his autobiography, 30 years later, that it wasn't a black power salute but a human rights salute.

I guess like manythings, including taking the knee, people associate it with something and won't let the idea go.

Lets not associate taking the knee with BLM. Lets just see it as a protest against all racism, it's really not that hard, and the raised fist, now that Lisa has enlightened us lets not see it as a black power thing but a human rights thing. We can do that or we can argue about it and I'd rather we didn't cause more arguments.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
