Listening to Argus tonight in the garden, and remembered the gig in Singleton Park (or was it near the boating lake?). Does anyone remember this, and did anyone go?

Didn't go to that gig but saw them in Pontardawe a little while ago. Big album selling band from my youth. Still enjoy listening to their music very much.

We didn't live in God's own back then. We drove down for a McDonald's in baglan and ventured on as I'd heard they were there. We had a 3 month old baby so left him and Mrs J in the car, rushed in and saw The King Will Come, then had to leave, doh! Years later, they played Bridgend rec, a short walk from us - they were brilliant. With the permission of the lead guitarist (not Andy Powell), I peeled his play list off the stage (on 2nd encore). Prized possession.

I was there. Was only 11 at the time but my dad loved them and I went along with him. From what I can remember it was a good gig.
From memory it was on the lacrosse field right by the seafront.

I see Wishbone Ash are playing on a double bill with Focus guitarist Jan Akkerman at St George's, Bristol on Jan. 28th next year. 'A Night of Progressive and Contemporary Music featuring both back catalogues from late 60s to present day'. Very tempted. Saw Akkerman in concert 18 months ago in Holland, he was brilliant.

Would love to see them again, hopefully Swansea, to make a night of it! Funny thing is, when you look around in these gigs, there's grey (or no, or both in my case) hair everywhere.

I’ve been to St Georges several times. It’s a magnificent intimate venue.
The first ever recipient of a Planet Swans Lifetime Achievement Award.
Wishbone Ash were the reason Steve Harris of Iron Maiden always wanted two lead guitarists.

Went to see Martin Turner's at the St David's Hall in Cardiff (just checked and can't believe it was 2008) - they were with The Groundhogs & Focus. They did an excellent set comprising mainly of the Argus album.
Saw Andy Powell's band at Pontardawe Arts Centre a couple of years earlier
Thought Turner's band were far better

There were 2 versions of Wishbone Ash touring.

Aye, I think the current line up is more like a tribute band for the original!

Yes, but Andy Powell still plays that flying V (a guitar you could not play while sitting down lol)!
I'll defo keep an eye out for the Martin Turner version though.
My brother saw both versions and was very disappointed with the Powell led version so maybe the Martin Turner incarnation is better, especially if they're still playing Argus stuff, an absolute classic imo. Saw them live many times '70-'74, once supported by Swansea' s Man @ Guildford Civic, brilliant double header, 2 bands both with 2 lead guitarists.
