Potter offered a new contact 14:52 - May 17 with 12428 viewsCARDAN

Is this smoke and mirrors or are the owners genuinely trying to save this mess from getting worse?

A very good post.

But what about our crap away form and schoolgirl defending of set pieces.

I question if Potter was able to play his strongest team.

Apart from QPR we were losing to good teams or teams in great form away from home. The run wasn't as horrible as it looked on paper.

A half decent goalkeeper would've brought our set piece defending up to below average rather than the worst in the division.

If that was the case he's calling the shots now. I would imagine team selection and control of transfer policy are top of his list. If the Yanks bullsht him like they did to HJ then he'll be off.

People would be crying out for more experience even if Fer, Olsson and Carroll had been fit all season and playing every week.

The sight of an u23s player without a multi-million pound price tag is just upsetting to some types of fans. It's the end of the world if you don't have two experienced options they've seen on TV for every position.

Never mind that these kids were always serious talents desperate and overdue their breaks into senior football, and all used to playing attractive passing football with each other. No, Potter must have rounded them up at local parks and if only we'd signed real footballers instead!

It was similar when we were doing well in the Premier League, only difference was that posters on here were crying out for foreign players and hated it when we bought British.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Honestly can’t believe people can’t get this round their head.

Routledge even come out and said he has to waive a clause in his contract until he was ready for selection. People on here aren’t very bright unfortunately when it comes to football.

You reckoned yesterday that Valleyboy was great.

He is mun, he gets you lot on here awfully hot under the collar, but you / they can't see it. I just read his posts, smirk, then move on. I don't feel the need to HAVE to reply to him to try and get some PS kudos (that bit isn't aimed at you mind).

This is true. Ricardo Evanski from Holland or somewhere was immediately hailed as a great signing. Richard Evans from Stoke would have shown an alarming lack of ambition. Some dweebs even claimed Canas was better than Britton. Fnarr.

I would love to hear every individual story as to why players were not being picked.

Me, I have faith in Potter, back him and he will do a job here.

Potter is a shining star for us.

If it takes BHA to come in for him to turn the tables so be it, if they hadn't then would Potter have been given the backing he is asking for assurances on!?

If they are saying yes to these assurances, surely they could have been done before another club came knocking.........my worry is, will they be false promises?
I hope Potter stays but fully understand if he were to go.

The goalkeeping was a joke agreed.

But we only took 1 point off Leeds and Derby 0 off West Brom Norwich or Villa.
Over the season we were 2 players at least short of a realistic promotion challenge.

Yes I get where you are coming from on players like Asoro Mackay Etc.

But if we had signed a Bodde Pratley Rangel DDV or Jason Scotland type we would be in the PL now.

You can't just say stick with youngsters because of a couple that haven't worked yet.

We need some backbone and experience as well.

Yep. That is the way I saw it.
You need to have a good scouting system for that and I am not sure ours is up to it. I am more hopeful now Jenkins has gone though.
Time will tell if the Yanks have had a change of heart and will back Potter which they have patently failed to do in the past.
I have concerns as they have form for saying one thing then not adhering to it.

A Rangel to play in goal over Nordfeldt, maybe.

Otherwise I don't agree. We fell short due to set piece defending and the length of time it took to field a settled side. A lot of points dropped despite no lack of ability or nous in the squad.

Signing more players with the experience of Naughton, Fer, Olsson, Carroll, Dyer and Routledge wasn't going to magically fix anything on its own.
