Without Cat One these days though, those youngsters can be poached by Cat One academies with minimal compensation, see Rabbi Matondo.

Accounts 17-18 on 01:26 - May 3 by jasper_T | Time will tell but there's no basis for thinking Cat One has to be the "number one priority of the club". Players are emerging in British football from a variety of pathways, and as we're seeing this season the most significant ingredient is opportunity, not membership to the big spenders club. |
Good scouting, smart acquisitions, good coaching and development and then giving players opportunities is the way forward. Otherwise you end up in an upward spiral of paying over the top fees and wages for players that you think can do a job immediately. The mess we got into. Easier to do further down the leagues than the premiership as without big money the one thing most managers aren’t given is time because of the financial implications of relegation.
