Aye and I'm sure both those teams were bang up for their big match versus the Swedes. It's like appointing a manager who takes a plucky pub team on an FA cup run

FA Cup runs don't last 7 seasons. And include 3 promotions.

Potter deserves all the stick in the world on 18:12 - Dec 29 with 1814 views | vetchonian | What about another thought regarding team selection . What if Potter is working to a wages budget whereby he is given a pool of money per week to spend.......I would expect our players have a basic salary with add one for bench appearances, starting, number of minutes played etc.....maybe Potter is working with one hand behind his back? But even if he isn't he will sometimes get it wrong......most of our managers have at times even those with a betterment and dealt to them tha this one has........Big mistake made with his selection today.....I expect he will have learnt that.....unless of course my conspiracy theory has some legs!

Swans manager Potter admitted his side had been below-par during the first half, but said the responsibility for the manner of the display lay solely with him. "My reaction is one of disappointment with myself for the first half," said Potter. "I take full responsibility for the first half, we were not able to be ourselves and it was an uncomfortable 45 minutes. "Clearly we had an idea, but it did not work or I was unable to explain the idea well enough and, in fairness, Wigan did what they did well. "So I am disappointed with myself first off and I apologise to the players and I apologise to the supporters for the first half."

I don’t, but he needs to start learning from his mistakes. I know there would be plenty of interest in a Championship managers job, but how many of the people who want the job would “we” actually want.

Potter deserves all the stick in the world on 18:18 - Dec 29 with 1751 views | Cooperman | Has anyone seen any post match comments and explanations yet? I’m truly flabbergasted by that first half - was it the system itself or players not sticking to it? Surely Potter has sufficent coaching ability to get his message across via a few days on the training pitch. Surely he does. I still can’t work out the formation: - Harries playing left back or left sided CB of three? - If it was 3 / 5 at the back then it was really out of shape as Dan James was generally high up the pitch whereas Routledge was not. - Grimes was positioned deeper than VdH time after time. It simply looked farcical and nobody seemed to know their role. There’s no way in the world he designed it like that.

You're really having to reach to make these excuses for Potter's performance. Surely the simpler reason is that he's not the messiah we were promised?

None of our last four permanent managers have lasted more than a year. If Potter is as clueless and underqualified as you're implying, it makes you wonder about the competence of the man who appointed him and the others.

We can’t sack him even if we do lose them all (which I’m sure we won’t). Stability and continuity is a key ingredient going forward as we haven’t got the money to buy success and promotion.

Potter has started a project and irrespective of what happens this season needs to be given the summer and probably most of next season. However by god he got it wrong today and not for the first time. In dropping Mulder for Nordfelt a few months ago and today’s selection I can honestly say that he has made some of the strangest managerial decisions I’ve ever witnessed from a Swans manager since I’ve been watching them.
