Joe Rodon 19:00 - Dec 9 with 11161 viewsUplandsJack

Heard today that our promising young CB captain with the under23s is off to Bournemouth in January on a permanent switch, as Eddie Howe likes what he seen and is promising the chance of progression into 1st team. Whereas Clement, isn't remotely interested in giving him an opportunity.

Yet another shocking example of the goings on down there if this is true.

Was said the info came from the lad's own parents, who claimed the deal was as good as done.....

Yep. Reflected in the fact we have one of the best defensive recirds outside of the top 6 despite looking relegation fodder.
It is one of the few areas that we don't need to strengthen in.
I wish the lad well if Eddie Howe does take him under his wing.

I couldn't get my head round why certain folk wanted a defence revamp when we had the best defensive record in the premier league. Not far off it now TBH.

he is going out on loan in January.

Was promised to go out on loan in August, but for some reason the club changed their mind - and he wasn't too chuffed when it didn't happen.

If that's right its a HJ money making move. Not the managers idea for sure.

Could be both. I’ve seen nothing from Clement that suggests he takes the U23s seriously. Maybe they’re not up to it, but Fulton has proved he’s no worse than our record signing, for example. If they’re not given a chance we’ll never know whether they can step up.

Needs a loan opportunity

Big Joe is the only real local talent since Ben way back in 2012.

What is the point of the fecking Academy if you don't then involve a player like Joe ?

Be stupid to let him go.
Joe is the real deal and Swans will regret it big time.

A useful comparison is that Joe and Tammy are both the same age.
Involve Joe, simple.

Not if its Yeovil or Middlesboro.

Our loan players rarely kick a ball.

A braver manager would throw Dan James into the mix, as soon as we unload Narsingh. He seems to have a blind spot regarding the under 23's.

Agree- needs game time

Keep him without a shadow of doubt, if he needs game time loan him out. Swans are not out of the woods by a long shot and if the worst comes to the worst the club will need to cut costs next season which means some of the better players on a higher wages being moved on. Could see FF and Mawson leaving the club leaving VDH, Bartley and Rodon plus 1.

According to wiki and player profile sites he is 5 11 tall, which I thought was a bit short for a central defender.

Really cant see this rumour being true.

Some of these kids, Rodon, James,Aaron Lewis, Byers, Dulca, Garrick, could be part of our first team squad if relegated.
If we go down, I fully expect around half a dozen players to leave, Fernandez will certainly be gone and I would expect Mawson would also be off.....I can see Bartley, VDH and Rodon being our options at CB next season.

Is gambling on James a worse option than reverting to Routledge at present? Would keeping Roberts around have been a worse option than Rangel?

I haven't measured the lad but I think that info is probably a little outdated.

He is at least 6 ft 3 in.
Maybe bigger again.

Called Big Joe for good reason 👍.

I would much rather see one of our young, energetic, fearless youngsters on the pitch over Routledge.

Few of those types of players being playing in the Merseyside derby atm. Huge game but both managers trusting in inexperienced youth.

Interesting read.
