Yes so players that have played in Italy, Spain etc Charles and Rush the two that immediately come to mind that played in Italy, would love to know of any lesser known stories in the early part of the century [Post edited 21 Nov 2017 18:10]

Ford is an interesting one. Missed out on the '58 world cup, due to a playing suspension in the UK, which coincidentally lead to his playing time in the Netherlands. Described as an 'idol' by John Charles.

Townhill boy, see. My grandfather often waxed lyrical about him leaving centre-halves in a heap and bundling goalkeepers into the net... Made Costa look like Charles Hawtrey.

I'd heard that too from an uncle, Trevor would smash the ball and goalie into the back of the net and the goal would stand. Goalie's are well protected today, possibly too much so.
