Seems Tony is planning something?? 18:34 - Aug 27 with 25071 viewsdermyqpr

Taken from a post by an Irish R;

I see uncle Tony and his cronies are increasing the share holding of the club. To the untrained financial eye this looks like the club will receive a cash injection. To those that know business it's a clever move to spread the debt the club is currently in. But the board wrote of that debt I hear you say, true but not true, in fact by increasing the shareholding it spreads the debt and gets the club ready for putting in the shop window. The sooner we are sold the better but who is going to buy a club that is on the brink. Worrying times ahead.

Yeh I think it's been fairly clear for some time that they'd love an offer for the place.
I think he's done a poor job overall but some of the abuse he copped online last night was not on at all.

OK, this was how they wrote off the debt about 18 months ago to avoid any further penalties under FFP and ensure that the club was on a more stable financial footing going forward. It further diluted share holdings and effectively reduced the share holding of the Mittals.

Nothing hidden and historic transaction. Tune holdings effectively wrote of over £200M of debt. Pretty much unique in the modern game when you look at the complex financial engineering of clubs like Man Utd for example who have loaded accounting debt onto the club to ensure they get a much greater return.

Never knowingly understood

I don't know about the abuse he got last night or any other night as I don't do Twitter, but I think overall he's had an easy ride from the fans considering his endless feck ups

I got the letter yesterday and to be honest I don't understand any of it.

Isn't the reason they're increasing their shareholding due to the simple fact that the other shareholders (the Mittals) are declining to put any more money in to cover the losses and that, therefore, the new debt is swapped for equity?

The sooner we're sold the better? Looking at all the good, honourable and lovely people who've taken over English football clubs in recent years, I can't think what could possibly go wrong with a change of ownership.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Absolutely. Be careful what you wish for.

Yes it would be terrible to have owners like those that Brentford, Hudderrsfield etc. have!

We've been skint before. I don't think there are any qpr fans with much financial clout or they may have shown their hand already.

Most qpr fans on here complain about £15 cup games.

Tony has been an absolute shambles.
New stadium?
New training facilities?
Self sustainability?
We've now only started looking like we're doing things right because we're not spending any money. We've blown it all.
We've gone backwards since TF walked through the door. We nearly ended up in L1 last season after spending a quarter of a billion pounds..
Yes theres some shady people running football clubs up and down the country but surely it doesn't come much more shambolic than TF. ?
The best thing he's done is appoint Hoos and Ferdinand to sort out his/Hughes/Redknaps mess and plus getting the badge back.

I dont really understand all the finances but doesn't the club
Cost £200 mill more now as the debt has been turned into equity. ???

No, it's worth what someone's prepared to pay for it. And in much the same way, the £500 you have to spend repairing and putting your well-used £500 vehicle through an MOT doesn't make it worth a grand!

Very true.

It's just that when people mention new owners, they only consider that we would have bad owners. That would be just like Rangers, but there are good owners as well.

Personally, I am happy with how Tune are managing us at present, although than doesn't include the past. However, some regulars at Loftus Road, consider Tune to be every bit as bad as the owners of the clubs you mentioned.

I'd agree with most of that however intentions have always been good. Look at some of the owners in recent years (at hull, Cardiff, Blackburn) who have purposely antagonised supporters.

TF et al have learnt many lessons the hard way. They've been badly stitched up - mainly by 20 or so players who took a huge multi-million pound contracts and then didn't perform for various reasons.

I believe they remain the best people to take us forward. The muppets who were antagonising TF recently are plain stupid and they will damage our club.

They got stiched up because they were sloppy, didnt do their due diligence and just thought throwing money at it would solve all problems. Hardly shrewd businessmen. Do we honestly think these guys are the men to take us forward?
I dont. They couldnt organise a bunk up in a brothel.
Lee Hoos has been a turning point but ultimately he and Ferdinand and Holloway to an extent are trying to fix the problems that went on before. We've gone back 10 years on TF watch.

For the record, even though im quite vocal on here about TF ive never once tweeted him and given him pelters.. I dont hate the bloke i just despair at the way he's run the club.

Phil Beard was clearly the wrong appointment. No football experience at the club taken to the cleaners by various parties.

It's a bit of a weird situation though, if someone offers to buy the club for an amount TF would be willing to let it go at (presumably recovering some of his losses) then it's hard to imagine that the new owners would be that shrewd. If however TF accepts a low offer and walks away massively out of pocket, then you could possibly end up with a decent prospect for a new owner but that's still not guaranteed they could just be after asset stripping. TF selling for a massive loss seems a much less likely outcome, so I'd probably assume any new owners would be worse or at least require the same education TF has needed.

I'm not quite sure why this "spreads the debt" to be honest. Increasing shareholding would give Tony more control over an exit and any price he paid for the shares would take any upcoming sale into account. The true debt in our club is c.15m (I think) bank loan. The other "debt" is shareholder loan but firstly this isn't debt and secondly it appears (from accounts I looked at a while ago) that these shareholder loans have been put in by a specific sharholder ie. not pro rata to the shareholding. The returns on these shareholder loan go to a specific shareholder. So no increase in shareholding will influence this unless they change the underlying sharholder loans themselves. Also, I've never been involved in any transaction where these shareholder loans remain in place under new ownership. So, depending on price, a lot of these shareholder loans may have to be written off at point of exit.

I was extremely sceptical about Fernandes' motives while Old Oak was on the horizon. Now that that appalling vista has receded I think he's doing ok, admittedly FFP has had a calming influence.

What worries me about possible new owners is the affect they may have on the great work done by Hoos, Ferdinand, Sinton, Andy Evans, QPR Community Trust etc. It's possible that we could lose all of that.

Which is why I never understand the grief that Tony gets. Bad manager, we get a bad season or 2. Bad owner could ruin us for years to come.

watched a piece on John Walters on the weekend about his move to burnley. He was looking back on his career and he said that the model burnley need to follow is the stoke model. Very shrewd chairman and manager to make very shrewd signings.

He's right though. Shakiri. Anautovic compared to the duds he bought for us.

Tony Pony has been a living breathing disaster for QPR!

Abuse is one thing, but the line between it and, constructive criticism laced with frustration that ends up having a go at him; his decisions and their resulting outcomes; has been a line of thinning size for years!

Frankly; it's almost impossible not to end up giving him pelters for being just plain stupid! He's been naive and ignorant from day one, guided by ego and thinking himself far more capable than he ever was. Simply put; he should have known better.

The worry is; if he's looking to offload, how sure can we be that he'll put our needs first over his desire to be shot of the disaster he created to any shady character? Frankly it's a disaster with him, we might as well let someone else in to have a go! Fernandes can jog on and in the process, don't let the door bang your arse on the way out either.

Somehow, it just doesn't feel right.

The word 'planning' being used in the same sentence that Fernandes is mentioned in.

It's all gone very quite on the new training ground again. I hope I'm wrong but I have this feeling now things seem to have been sorted out, that the club will present new plans. This would start the process allover again !!
