Not a big fan of his music, but his books are a great amusing read. My brother's done the PA sound for Man and their offshoots many times, and he was given a book at one of the gigs. It was in Llanhillaeth [? spelling] and he asked Deke to put a little message in there, he signed it ' To Busb, the best soundman in the whole of Llanhillaeth tonight'. A great account in one of the books was when he was supporting Hendrix, and was asked 'did you see him play'. His reply was ' no but he saw me play'.

He tapped me on the shoulder once, years ago, and said "get in this photo by here with me. I can show it to people then and prove that not everybody who comes to watch us is dull!"
I had a black Sun Records t-shirt on.
